[Guitar solo] ​mgk – Darkside of the Moon

this was exciting. we wanted the solo to sound distinctive, yet somewhat sloppy; very reminiscent of the guitar playing in the 70’s (Pink Floyd, Zeppelin, etc.) I called my homie Sinclair to cut it, and since we were both out of town, basically had to hum how the solo was going to sound back and forth until we agreed on one. He brought it to life and now I just hope i see some cover videos!!

This was one of the quickest songs I’ve ever written. It flowed so easily out of my pen onto paper that night. I sat down and didn’t move or even get up once until the song was done. The most amazing part about this song though is the instrumentation. Those drums you hear aren’t from a keyboard or MPC, those are live, that’s why there is so much emotion in them. And the string section build up in the beginning is fucking insane! All of these elements were added after the song was recorded, thats why the first version of the song (which you can only hear 26 seconds of in the preview trailer on youtube and you’ll never hear the rest of!) is like a totally different song then the final one we printed on Black Flag.
