As a citizen of Belarus I can say that in all post-USSR countries people do in fact eat sunflower seeds as a pastime activity, especially the elders. As a matter of fact, I myself eat them quite a lot!

Actually, It kind of is a passtime activity. I’m armenian and my grandparents eat sunflower seeds a lot. But it might also be a thing in Lebanese culture.
