Pretending was written as an Anti-Bully song, but instead of speaking from the victim side. I chose to make it about the one who is the actual Bully. I wanted to speak to the bully in a way out of love for the hope that he/she would see their wrongs.

Which is why the song is called “Pretending”. Because when we are surrounded by so much of what we are lacking in our lives. We pretend as if it doesn’t bother us. So much to the point that we actually harden that image into our being. So in this song I am speaking to the teenage bully, which in my opinion is the final chance to get them to see they can be better than this.

In the end what every bully lacks is love. Not that he/she can’t love, but more so that have not been loved, truly.

Mattress Back [/ˈmatrəs bak/]:

NOUN:

1. One who is constantly given the snub by his/her peers.
2. Unrecognized for their work regardless of dues paid.
3. Constantly slept on.
