Those spectral media-women are in fact scripted and sculpted entirely by men. Helen of Troy is “Paris in a drag of plaster and papyrus”. She’s a construction of plaster and paper, made by a general as a pretext to launch a war (Paris was a Trojan prince). Real women do give themselves sexually, but these phantom media women – these deceptive stars – can’t, because the moment their clothes come off they reveal that they’re men. All they can do is glitter distantly.
