REO Speedwagon, the epitome of trucker music.

Plus, the next song on this album to reference Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Bada Bing, uses a sample of REO Speedwagon’s Can’t Fight This Feeling.

More from Facebook:

The reason they “never undress in this non-stop striptease” is that women, as we see them in the media, are actually men in drag.

Those spectral media-women are in fact scripted and sculpted entirely by men. Helen of Troy is “Paris in a drag of plaster and papyrus”. She’s a construction of plaster and paper, made by a general as a pretext to launch a war (Paris was a Trojan prince). Real women do give themselves sexually, but these phantom media women – these deceptive stars – can’t, because the moment their clothes come off they reveal that they’re men. All they can do is glitter distantly.

And further:

There’s a bit of a reference to Marlowe’s Dr Faustus, the scene where Faustus makes Mephistopheles summon Helen of Troy from the underworld. She’s a purely spectral presence, a plaything of a devil, a tool for power.
(I’d seen an Edinburgh Festival production where Helen of Troy was a Marilyn Monroe impersonator.)

When asked about this metaphor on his Facebook page:

Oh, and the Rock, Paper, Scissors metaphor. Rock and scissors represent revolution, the potential for social transformation. Paper represents deception, media, image, spectacle, celebrity. Scissors can cut paper, but paper can wrap rock. Just as, in King Solomon’s Song And Mine, the miners have their revolutionary potential undermined by a song (which ends up preserving the monarchy), so the deceptions of media can prolong and perpetuate the military-industrial complex. Paper wraps rock. Obvious, no?

Greta Garbo and Marilyn Monroe are old film stars (20s and 50s, respectively) that were masterful cold coquettes.

Garbo never married, but reportedly had very intense affairs with both men and women. And Monroe… Most men were acquainted to her through sexy photos.

Some stuff you just can’t make up

Why, you ask? Because mice are cheaper to experiment on than monkeys.

The main benefits we see are that this approach provides a system to study and manipulate primate spermatogenesis, thereby minimising the need for experimentation in primates

A poet from Wales, and one of the most important ones of the 20th century. This remark is obviously sarcastic. To this day hipsters think you can’t get any higher poetry than Bob Dylan.
