Snakes do not have eyelids, so they cannot blink and their eyes remain open while they are sleeping. They don’t have tear ducts, so they can’t cry.

Effectively Jacka will never be caught ‘Sleeping’. (See this line for the term ‘Sleeping’)

Interesting fact: One of the few ways you can tell if a snake is sleeping or not is by watching their tongue. If it’s flicking periodically, they’re awake, if it doesn’t flick once in a while, the snake is most likely sleeping.

There are many conspiracy theories about Bin Laden actually being dead.

Scarface thinks that surely Bin Laden would have been dealt with earlier, not 10+ years later.

There are many reasons for people not believing he is dead but here are the main ones:

  • There is a lack of evidence. (No photographs, videos, or DNA test results have been released)
  • Huge criticism of his burial at sea.
  • Many residents of Abbottabad claimed to have not seen the body and some believed that he never lived among them.

“See murders” is also pronounced to sound like “see mercs” in the song. Mercs is the short form or slang for mercenary.

The line “better turn on them burners” is a nice double-entendre.

He’s literally referencing the previous line about beef and burgers (as you’d use a burner to cook meat) but could also be talking about a pistol, which in rap slang is occasionally called a burner.

Basically, he’s telling his enemies to man up and fight back instead of running, saying they might have a better chance at surviving if they stepped up and turned on their burners of running like Usain.

In the years leading up to this song, Kanye had broken up with one fiancée, lost his mother during a botched surgery, and been blasted by the world for the infamous Taylor Swift incident. At the time of release in 2010, he was dating Amber Rose, but had clear intentions for Kim Kardashian. Rose even suggested he had cheated on her with Kim.

It seems Kanye was yearning for fulfillment, and was “lost” in his own mind. He doesn’t know what he truly wants, or how to get it. All he knows is he’s missing something.

“Run from the lights” is part of the recurring theme of lights in Kanye’s music, from “Flashing Lights” on Graduation and “Street Lights”“ on 808s & Heartbreak to “All of the Lights”. The motif symbolises his struggle with fame, which is a prevalent theme of its own throughout My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy.

The very short “run from the lights” part of the song is so much more epic and nobody realizes this. Those few lines sang by Elly Jackson are references to previous songs in the album as Lost In The World is totally an epic culmination that technically ends off the album before Who Will Survive In America. “Run from the lights” is alluding to All Of The Lights and Kanye’s deep desire to run from his fame and “Run for your life” is alluding to Runaway and how he wanted someone (supposedly Amber Rose) to run from him that whole song.

Rain and storms are a common metaphor for struggles and dark times. With Tupac, it doesn’t just rain, it pours, meaning all his struggles and problems come at once, which would also be overwhelming.

“When it rains it pours” connects to the line before when he says he tries to keep from “gettin wet up”. It is a metaphor and word play for gun fire raining down from all of the gang violence around. He tries to keep from getting “wet up” or shot.

Not sure if this kind of eludes to the opening bars but.. It’s funny cause stretch (the person also featured on this track) is who pac was with at the time of this shooting. Pac did not like how stretch handled himself during the altercation in which pac was shot as he reached for his gun. Pac stopped hanging with stretch all together after that and exactly one year after the 94' shooting stretch was murdered.
Pac reference’s stretch’s murder in against all odd’s where he states, “and to that nigga that was down with me, rest the dead, he switched sides guess his new friends wanted him dead”.
