The term 1-up dates all the way back to the 1970’s. American pinball machines would give you an extra ball (1up) for meeting certain scores or conditions.

However, the term was largely popularized by the classic video game, Super Mario Brothers. In the game, if you aquired a certain amount of coins, you recieved an extra life. Above Mario’s head, a “1up” bubble would float above his head briefly. You could also get it by collecting a green mushroom.

Generally, the term just means any extra life you aquire in any game.

I was going to start this off with a funny line from back when I rapped and said my name in my songs all the time but whatever.

My original name was EminemFan but then I decided that was too generic so I wanted to change it. I thought of Mykro because at the time of making a new account I was about 11 years old, and I was small. Micro means small and I wanted to be a cool kid so I replaced the i with a y.

It’s neat how I was Mister M-i-cro and I couldn’t rap
But now the M-y makes my rhymes tighter

Now that’s over check out this Mindy Kaling gif

Nobody knows how the blackmailer blackmails their target so well in Town of Salem, but it sure is effective. Any non-mafia player can be targeted by the blackmailer at night, and in the day they can not say anything. If they are voted to be lynched, whenever they try to say anything it will say “I am blackmailed!”

As a blackmailer, you should try targeting neutral roles with your blackmails. You can then accuse them of being scum, and since they can’t talk they will likely get voted and lynched. You can blackmail a town member and accuse them as well, but if they get lynched you’ll probably get lynched the day after.

If you get blackmailed, it can be insanely frustrating, especially if you’re a neutral role. There is absolutely nothing you can do if you get blackmailed, so just sit back and hope you don’t get lynched.

Framers are a powerful mafia role in Town of Salem. They are able to target any player in the night and make them look guilty to a sheriff’s report. This is especially useful if the sheriff states who he/she is going to investigate, because the framer can simply frame that person and get an innocent town member lynched.

As a framer, framing every night is a good idea. Don’t frame someone who the sheriff is obviously not going to be checking, like an uncced PR or a clear. Be careful not to try and frame a veteran, as you will get killed. Act as town-like as possible. Aside from your special ability, you should act like a mafioso.

As a town member with a framer in the game, always be weary. Make sure to warn people that not all guilty reports are true. If you are the sheriff, try not to make who you’re investigating too obvious, as to prevent the framer from being able to taint your reports.

Mafiosos are the grunt members of the Mafia in Town of Salem. They have no voting power in mafia meetings and have to follow all the orders of the Godfather. They do, however, have the unique ability to take over the Godfather’s position when he/she dies.

As a mafioso, you should just focus on appearing as town-like as possible. Make sure to try and protect your Godfather from being lynched, and don’t draw direct attention to your fellow Mafia members unless you’re bussing or trying to help them not get lynched.

This hook is sampled from the original song “Last Christmas” by Wham!

On the holiday of Christmas, you give people gifts. She poetically gave someone her love last Christmas but he didn’t treat her right. To save her from pain in the future, she’ll give her love to someone who actually cares.

“Ride or Die” could be a reference to the following rap songs:

Ride or die as a phrase simply means you either put your life on the line for your brothers, even if it ends up killing you. In this case they are literally riding, going a drive-by.

The Retributionist is an incredibly powerful and helpful role in Town Of Salem. The retributionist has the power to revive any town-sided player in the graveyard, once.

With all this power comes danger as well. If mafia or evil neutrals know who the retributionist is, they will likely target them instantly. This means it’s a good idea to keep your role hidden until after you have already revived someone. Don’t hardclaim unless you’re being lynched or you have already used your revive.

When deciding who to revive, think about how important the role is to the town. If there is an important town member that has no protection, consider revivng a protective role. If the town has lost a cop or jailor, definitely revive them as soon as possible. Always consider what will assist the town the most.

Note: Does not apply to Town of Salem

Hammer is the term for the final deciding vote in a lynch. If everyone but Player2 has voted, Player2 has the hammer. Typically clears are given the hammer because they can be trusted not to try and blitz.

Clears with the hammer will often tell everyone to self vote or cross with another player so that their vote is the only one that matters.

If a majority of the town agrees on someone to lynch, nobody really has the “hammer”. Hammer is really only when it is the deciding vote.
