Counterclaim is a term for when one player claims a role, and another counters that claim with their own. You’ll also hear the term “unCCed” which simply means that nobody has counter claimed that person. An uncced PR is viewed as clear to the town, so that’s why it’s a good idea for mafia to CC cop in many setups.

Usually if you CC too late, you’re regarded as the scum. This is because town assumes you were checking the real cop’s/PR’s report first. As mafia, you’ll want to either claim first or claim quickly after the real cop/PR does to avoid suspicion.

Example of CCing
Player1: I’m cop. Player2 is innocent.
Scum1: I CC. My report is that Player3 is guilty.

Another example
Scum1: I’m oracle. I’m on Player2.
Player1: Any CCs?
Player3: I do. I’m oracle. I’m on Player4.

Bussing is more of a strategy than a term, but it still applies. It comes from the phrase “throw them under the bus”. As a mafia member you can bus your partner and tell the town they’re scum. If town lynches them they will see that you were right. They’ll believe that you’re a town member because after all, why would you throw your own partner under the bus?

Bussing works best if you don’t warn your partner beforehand. It seems organic and real to the town because their reaction is real. IF you get bussed by your partner, be sure not to act abnormal. Act as if a town member accused you. If you act TOO over the top, or too calm, town will see right through you and recognize that it’s a bus.

Example of good bussing
Scum1: I’m cop. Scum2 is guilty.
Scum2: False, can the real cop out themselves please?
Player1, Player2, Player3 and Player4 vote to lynch Scum2
Scum2: WTF TOWN? He’s lying, I’m innocent.

Example of bad bussing
Scum1: I’m cop. Scum2 is guilty.
Scum2: OMFG NO IM NOT YOU’RE AN IDIOT FAKE COP FAKE COP FAKE COP
Player1: Nobody is even voting you yet. Obviously Scum1 is bussing guys.

Blue is simply the word to describe a vanilla villager. Not a PR. Sometimes it can be used when describing someone townlike, as in “He’s acting blue.” It comes from the fact that the villager icon has always been a simple man with a blue shirt.

In the classic setup, one mafia usually claims to be cop while the other claims to be blue. 2 scum claiming PRs typically ends bad, same as 2 scum claiming blue.

Example of using the word Blue

Player1: Player2 is scum!
Player3: No he’s not. I think he’s blue since everyone else are PRs.
Player2: Yeah I’m blue! Normal villager guys!

Blitz is a term to describe a “blitz” of votes by the mafia. If a town member is not paying attention and votes improperly, the mafia can quickly take advantage and use their votes to either hammer or make town unable to revoke their votes.

Mafia can especially use this to their advantage in MYLO and LYLO situations.

Example of a Blitz
Town1, Town2, and Town3 vote no one/don’t vote to lynch someone in a LYLO
Town4 and Town5 vote Scum1 because they know they have to lynch someone
Scum1, Scum2, and Scum3 quickly see this mistake by the other town members and vote no one as well, sealing their victory

Because it was a LYLO, Mafia could just cause a NL and kill in the night to win. They blitz the NL to ensure the wise town members didn’t warn the other town members that it was a LYLO.

A term used when someone is being unfairly lynched by a majority of the town after one person votes them. If one is being BW’d, typically someone saying so will make people back off. Often individuals who aren’t paying attention will blindly follow a single vote because they think that’s what they should do.

Mafia can often take advantage of a quick bandwagon and turn it into a Blitz. If a majority of town is randomly bandwagoning someone, the mafia can join in on the bandwagon and try to stall until time is up, then voting to kick. Kicking prevents people from revoking their vote. Note: Kicking and Blitzing does not apply to Town of Salem.

Mafia can also try to start a bandwagon, but if unsuccessful, they will look very scummy and likely lose the game.

Example of Bandwagon
Player1: Player2 is scum.
Player1 votes for Player2 to be lynched
Player3, Player4, Player5, and Player6 follow this vote for no reason
Player2: Uhh guys, WTF? This is a clear BW, unvote me please.
Player1, Player2, Player3, Player4, and Player5 unvote
