Relationship Status: Together but complicated

Daya and John meet early on in Season 1. Starting off, Bennett is nervous about a relationship with an inmate but he can’t hide his feelings.

Even after the hardship, John still has his feelings for Daya. He protected her and their baby from the explosion/fire in the kitchen. However, Daya wants John to proclaim his love for her. John tells Daya doesn’t want to lose his job after a promotion tease from Caputo but he finally succumbs to Daya’s pressure and tells him. Caputo literally says get out and doesn’t want to deal with it.
