Jeremih does a good job of keeping the meaning of “spread your wings” ambiguous: at first it seems he is telling her to spread her metaphorical wings and become a free spirit, but his request that she lets him “guide that” suggests she’s simply spreading her legs and assuming the spread eagle sex position.

Deebo was a neighborhood bully in the popular movie, Friday. In one of his most famous scenes, he gets Red to agree that the bike he stole can be “both ours” before knocking him out and keeping the bike. That’s how Cole plans to steal your girl.

Cole pronounced this line so that it can also be heard as both eyes, in reference to Deebo’s lazy eye.

Dikembe Mutombo is an NBA legend known for his shot-blocking ability – he is #2 on the all-time list, with 3,289 blocks (and finger wags.) However, not even Dikembe could block Cole from getting with his girl if he puts his mind to it.

It’s no coincidence that Cole drops this line after comparing himself to MJ. Dikembe bragged at the 1997 All Star Game that Jordan had never dunked on him—later that season, MJ posterized him in Chicago.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NlwUFA5Sric.

Melo’s a bad teammate, but I honestly think he is the best 1v1 player in the league. Davis and Gasol will shut down the paint on D and can either step out or post up on offense.

To knock his competition out of Earth’s gravity and into outer space, Joey would have to get them traveling at a speed of 25,000 MPH. Considering even Superman can’t punch someone into space, this may be difficult for Joey to pull off with just his rhymes.

Possible reference to fellow New Yorker Busta Rhymes.

Liked it immediately after I saw it, but once I left the theater I realized it wasn’t very good. It has nothing to do with politics, it just wasn’t a great movie. Some action scenes were cool, Cooper was good as Kyle, but outside of that it was pretty cliche and boring.

Joey is blessed with a talent that opened a lot of doors for him once he pursued rapping as a career. However, most people in his neighborhood aren’t so fortunate and would get the door slammed in their face if they pursued ventures in the professional world.

“The solar” seems to be a euphemism for heaven, which is supposedly located somewhere out there in the solar system. The closed mouth ties to the previous line about pitbulls locking their jaws closed.

This could also be a diss to the producer Solar who has caused issues after the death of Guru (a musical partner of this track’s producer DJ Premier).

Mixing in “pass the chronic” in the middle of two slightly pretentious and nonsensical lines hints that Joey is aware of the complaints his pseudo-intellectual lines have gotten, and is passing the bars off as weed-inspired musings rather than ultra-meaningful revelations.

“Macrocosmic” means that his rhymes are either related to the universe as a whole or they are emblematic of something smaller than them. Neither definition makes particular sense in context, but the rough translation is clear: Joey’s rhymes are too advanced for his simple-minded listeners.

This line, and similar lines on B4.DA.$$, drew criticism since Joey admittedly borrows a lot of his sound and style from the 1990s rappers he grew up listening to.
