David Caruso is an actor who won a Golden Globe for his portrayal of Detective John Kelly on NYPD Blue in 1993, then decided to leave the show in season 2 when he couldn’t get a pay raise. The next movies he worked on after NYPD Blue were Jade and Kiss of Death, both of which flopped both critically and commercially.

His decision to leave NYPD Blue early was #6 on the biggest TV blunders of all time, which is why Kyle wants Ike to make like Caruso and plummet towards the ground.

This is the first appearance of one of South Park’s most famous running jokes. Kenny McCormick has died on the show 84 times then returns the next episode without explanation as if nothing ever happened. Still, every time Kenny dies, the rest of the group freaks out, yelling “Oh my God! They’ve killed Kenny! You bastards!” at whoever is responsible for his death.

This is probably the show’s writers' way to poke fun at how Christopher Columbus has been deified in American culture despite the fact he used genocide as a tool, sold 9 year old girls into sex slavery, and is even considered “the father of the transatlantic slave trade” by some.

Alien abductions have always been common in pop culture, but it wasn’t until Whitley Strieber wrote Communion: A True Story that people started fearing anal probes from them. An excerpt from the book:

They inserted the thing into my rectum. It seemed to swarm into me as if it had a life of its own. Apparently, its purpose was to take samples, possibly of fecal matter, but at the same time I had the impression I was being raped and for the first time I felt anger.

For those that don’t believe in aliens, a common explanation for these “sightings” are lucid dreams/sleep paralysis. Lucid dreams occur during your REM cycle when your body is shut off to prevent you from acting on your dreams, but your mind wakes up during the process. This freaks most people out, and can cause hallucinations such as alien abductions. So all alien abduction stories aren’t necessarily “hoaxes” in the traditional sense – some of these people really feel like they were abducted.
