Fellow Hall of Famer Reggie White was a brutal force on the field at Defensive End and Defensive Tackle, where he recorded 198 sacks, an NFL record at the time of his retirement. He was also a ordained Christian Evangelical minister, hence his nickname “The Minister of Defense.”

An unlikely friendship to say the least. The two played for rival teams. But ultimately White’s faith brought the two together, and helped Carter get his life in order.

Prior to his senior year, Carter signed a representation agreement with sports agent Norby Walters. He was promised $5,000 and received $150 a week after signing the contract. This was an infraction of NCAA rules, which carried the penalty of immediate ineligibility.

The Buckeyes didn’t do too well without him, finishing 6-4-1.

It hasn’t been a good week for Eagles wide receivers. Just days after Jeremy Maclin went down for the season with a torn ACL, video emerged of Riley Cooper using a racial slur at a Kenny Chesney concert. He said “I will fight every nigger here.”

The NFL will not punish Cooper, but the Eagles fined him an undisclosed amount and announced that he will undergo sensitivity training. He apologized for his comments, and said that apologizing to his teammates “was one of the toughest things that I’ve ever had to do. It was extremely emotional. They could tell I was sincere, but it was tough.”

But the main concern with this whole situation is the effect that this will have on team chemistry. Starting running back LeSean McCoy said that he forgives Cooper, but lost respect for him. Starting quarterback Michael Vick had a similar reaction. This comes at the worst time for Cooper, who was expected to play a much larger role on offense than in the past due to Maclin’s injury.

Yet another significant injury for the 49ers, who seem to have caught the injury bug this pre-season. Culliver was San Francisco’s third cornerback last year, where he recorded 47 tackles, two interceptions, and a forced fumble. He went down holding his left knee during a non-contact punt coverage drill early in practice.

Culliver will undergo surgery, and will miss the upcoming season.
