Eyedea spent very much time thinking. He would think about existence, life and death. These subjects were often touched upon in his music. Kristoff says that Eyedea eventually found peace and understood death.

The second line could have at least two different meanings:

  1. Eyedea was finally free and was once again one with everything. His physical body left earth and finally became one with the universe again.

  2. Could be kind of the same idea as on Blu & Exile’s “Give Me Flowers While I Can Still Smell Them”. It might be that Eyedea (like most people) recieved more love from fans, friends and critics after his death. He finally achieved his dream.

A couple of years back (“get a flashback”) there was a big trend revolving around wristbands made out of rubber:

They would be used to raise awareness about different causes. Used by big corporations like Livestrong. They would support all types of good causes, often supported by big sport names.

Examples:

Michael Schumacher (Formula One racing driver) and Karla Gonzalez posing with wristbands for safer roads.

Thierre Henry (Soccer player) posing with black and white bracelets. These support a cause against racism.

It’s sarcasm. Ali isn’t a psychoanalysts, but he knows that there are certain ways children, especially toddlers, should be treated. He doesn’t see that his wife is living up to these obvious responsibilities of motherhood.

When you’re a poor country or group and you want to get somewhere, you use what warfare you can – the higher class or rich nations call this terrorism. The Pentagon calls it asymmetric warfare – one side does not match the other, one side is rich and the other poor. One side has armies and planes and the other explosives and bodies.

The majority of this song is about American politics hence the title; also about anti war and anti violence. – the jab in the first stanza is most likely referring to a populist vision of the “small people” rising up to take on the “big people”, the elites that he refers to throughout the song.

This is a linguistic geniality, because it both is & isn’t a paradox: he literally says he swears to something that takes faith to believe in (God) about the fact that he doesn’t take anything on faith (and thus won’t believe in angels).

“I swear to God I..” has become a common idiom for simply “I swear above all”, and is used by many non-believers as well as believers. Mac Lethal utilizes the irony of this

The line puts a spin on the quote “The greatest trick the devil ever played was convincing people that he doesn’t exist”
The narrator is convinced that he must be the bad person in this and the one to be blamed.

Mikeys lyrics have often come with movie references and this might be one for The Usual Suspects. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kl0H1EUQ_38

May have been one of the “longest” dreams I’ve had. After waking up I felt like I had just skipped 2 weeks. Be warned though, it’s very fragmented.

The dream started out with my family and I going home from vacation at a cabin in the mountains. This is the first thing I remember at least. We are not driving my parent’s cars on any car I’m familiar with. It’s big and black, might have been a Range Rover.

The dream then skips forward to a party I attend. At the party I suddenly remember that I had forgotten beer at two different friends' houses. The crowd at the party is very mixed age wise, with small kids, teenagers and adults. This doesn’t stop the younger part of the crowd from drinking and acting like fools. I tell my friend I have to go pick up the beer, so I do it at one of the houses. When we return some people have left and the crowd consists mainly of females. Suddenly some rap music comes on and some grown guy walks over to me and throws me out of the party for liking rap – but he lets me back in again right away, being really creepy about it.

Now the dream gets even weirder and it keeps skipping between what I assume is a farm landscape in Minecraft and the party. Nothing noteworthy really happens and this is the last thing I remember.
