We know from https://genius.com/The-hold-steady-hornets-hornets-lyrics that Holly doesn’t fornicate to seek pleasure, she only does it to get something in return. What is Gideon giving her? Drugs probably, which goes along with what Ottafiyah said about Gideon in the lyric “He likes the part where the traders get chased out of the temple”

I think this might being a bit too literal-especially given Gideon’s later revealed infatuation with Holly, I’d say contagious in that she infects your soul etc, you can’t shake her
