Aesop is saying that he stayed as a non conformist which made him an underdog in society. He went against the norms of society that called for him to adapt to their way of thinking and to join them. Instead of being defeated or feeling belittled by society for being opposed, he has evolved into a better state. Saying his knuckles no longer drag on the ground is an ode to the term Knuckledragger which is a reference to the way cave men walked and sometimes a derogatory statement used to call someone stupid.

Ubuntu is the a South African non-profit organization that is dedicated to improving the health and well being of HIV-positive children in under-served communities.
It is also a reference to the philosophical concept by the same name that focuses on the allegiances we all have to one another. Essentially Ubuntu stresses unity among people for the sake of one another’s existence. The word Ubuntu has its origins in the Bantu languages of southern Africa.

Ntokozo was the first of the kids to steal my heart away. On the 2nd day of treatment I sat down next to her while she was drawing. She looked at me with a big smile on her face and said, “Hi Sage.” I was astonished that she remembered my name considering how brief our meeting was the day before with all the other people there. All this dude does all day is lie to make himself seem important and interesting. Everyday in editor chat he tells us Maboo sent him to moderate us and report to him. The next day he lies and tells us he used to be a porn star. Whats coming tomorrow? Fuck I can’t wait man.

He is criticizing the children of businessmen who are heading these large companies like Halliburton, who specializes in oil, and decide to take a liberal outlook that’s so mainstream that its ridiculous. They decide to rebel against their parents but don’t do much else than sit on the couch all day and profit from their parents misdeeds.
“Couchsurfing” is slang for taking up temporary housing on someone’s couch because you’re broke. He’s talking about rich kids pretending to be poor, as is often the case with hipsters.
