Relating to the previous lines, he wonders how the people of today are able to not talk about the condition of the world (be conscious). You can hear the pride in his voice when he tells you that he enlightens minds with what he spits on his tracks.

She was the girl everybody wanted back then, and Tonedeff was just a nobody. This is a feeling most of us can relate to, when chasing a girl in junior high.

Faceless may refer to two things here

• He was nothing to her, his social status at the school weren’t high enough to hit on her – a stupid, yet true situation
• He was faceless as in he did not dare to reveal his true feelings and intentions of their friendly relationship, thus leaving him without an expression on his face.

Many of todays rappers isn’t really standing for, or rapping about, anything. In fact, they just babble a lot.

The sad part is though, that these rappers (and their fans) usually look down on conscious and lyrically superior rappers, and therefore think that being conscious is a bad thing.

STOP IT!

Stan is going against the mainstream. Instead of being one of those being changed, he tries to be the one making the change.

While sometimes it may seem stupid and risky to bet your life on such an unstable platform as rapping, Stan thinks that this is what he’s meant to.

At the same time he’s also boasting, by stating that with the talent he has, it would be foolish not to pursue a rap dream.

He loves his son and gives him the attention he deserves, while others may give their son second priority next to bling n' bitchez

While others does what everyone else in the game does, Substantial does what he feels and what his heart tells him to. Don’t get too caught up on how everyone does, do what you LIKE

If you want great music, Substantial & Marcus D is bringing it to you. Their music is timeless and will never grow old. That is not the case with a lot of the trend-rappers of today, who’ll disappear when what’s currently viewed as popular changes.

Instead of the YOLO attitude of today, Stan tries to let his sentiments remain forever through his music.
