The chop on “The Games We Play” alone is like neck breaking. Again, it was a very therapeutic time for us just to even be able to make this album with him. We do a process where he A&Rs my projects all the time. He’s like, “Oh, yeah, you should rhyme on this, rhyme on that, rhyme on this.” I bring him records, he like, “Yeah, I like that one. Skip that one.” So on and so forth.

So to know that we went through that whole process and then we were happy with this record. The next day, it was just like, “Hey, yo man, I think I can make beats. I think I can make beats that are gonna trump all of these joints.”

For this particular song, we were really dialing in to who that guy is standing on that couch. So, it was a real celebratory moment. You know what I’m saying? Of course, Tony did die at the globe, but more so it’s about that guy who’s standing on a couch who’s saying, “Man, look, if you don’t know that I got it baby, you gotta be blind.” That’s the energy that we were going for.

Shakespeare’s theatre was named “The Globe”, so Shows you saw at The Globe would have been written by Shakespeare.

Whether intentional or not, it’s an interesting and relevant layer—that this is real life, not a play, and that Pusha T’s lyrics compare to rhyme schemes of our most influential English writer.

I’m not really wearing jewelry these days that much anymore. I used to wear jewelry a lot. I found out that they’re doing the Cuban link that’s half real and half fake. So I can’t do that no more. I feel like, they’re just doing really weirdo type of things with the jewelry. So I’ve chosen to take a more calmer stance with the jewelry. Unless it’s something super personal.

Pusha-T is out in public, his display of material wealth is modest. However his riches is not material but the intangibility of self. He doesn’t need to purchase this wealth, it is earned through self improvement. The chain is a means to diversify your assets, so don’t wear it out where you are more exposed.

First of all, The Purple Tape may be one of the greatest hip-hop albums of all time. Okay? The Purple Tape is an album that I have tried to make numerous times, and have not been able to even come close to it until now. I feel like this is my Purple Tape level of energy right here. It is the holy grail of a street rap album.

Only Built For Cuban Links is the holy grail of a rap album, of a street rap album. It is nicknamed The Purple Tape. It is Raekwon’s album. It’s one of my favorite albums ever. Ghostface is all over it. Man, if I could make nine Purple Tapes, I would, and you guys may get tired of me, and I wouldn’t care.

The album is also commonly referred to as “The Purple Tape” because the original cassette’s plastic was entirely purple; Raekwon marked the tape distinctively as a reference to drug dealers' method of tagging their product, to distinguish it from that of others'

Pusha-T is advising those upcoming into the game to study his purple tape as a business plan for the new game.

I’s just speaking to being that guy, claiming to be that guy and actually being that guy. A lot of this is done for the attention of females. I just have this feeling this is a dig at Jay Z. Jay isn’t Ye’s boy anymore and he claimed to have made a tonne of money from the drugs he sold…money that he’s still spending.

There is no way this is a dig at Jay-Z. An annotation from Pusha-T himself on this very song mentions how he had to call Jay-Z for permission to interpolate two of his bars here.

I wouldn’t mind my suggestion being archived so long as the one I’m responding to is as well.
