Newton argued that this (predominantly Black) section of America had the least to lose in a revolution because they’d already been shoved down into the lowest possible subsection of the economy.

In the Big Tymers days, Birdman would often talk about “dipping” girls, meaning he’d put gold & platinum all over them from head to toe. In this case, he’s not talking platinum blonde hair, he’s being quite literal, as indicated by the obscene wealth indicated in the next line about having bought a platinum football field.

In ‘98, Cash Money signed a distribution deal with Universal Records. The deal kept CMR independent, entitled them to ownership of the label’s master recordings, 85% of the royalties, a $3,000,000 advance, and 50% of all publishing royalties. In almost any other case, this would’ve been completely unheard of.
