A fair share of rappers claim themselves as the best, this often ends up with the rapper receiving criticism from the hip hop community & draws comparisons to benchmark rappers like Rakim, Kool G Rap & others. Most don’t stack up too well to these legends.

Don’t say you’re the best unless you can back it up.

Rawkus Records was an underground hip hop label that was very prevalent in the late 90s/early 00s. They put out several compilation records that received much praise. All of the mentioned people appeared on at least one Rawkus compilation, such as the Soundbombing record, which featured tons of dope emcee’s & producers.

Rawkus Records is also responsible for a handful of classic hip hop albums like Funcrusher Plus, Internal Affairs, even this very song & record that you’re listening to right now.

His debut album “Can-I-Bus” received alot of negative reviews due to it’s production, which was mainly handled by Wyclef. The beats were criticized for their blandness & unoriginality. Canibus acknowledges this, no worries though… their “beef” was settled later on.

In this dream/astral experience, Bis was hit by lightning thus scarring his arm & removing the tattoo of a mic he has there.

The mic tattoo comes from his beef with LL Cool J, they collaborated on a song, In Canibus' verse he wrote “L, is that a mic on your arm? Let me borrow that”
It was meant to be a homage type of thing but LL took offense to it & dissed him on that song with his verse.

Spawning a bunch of diss records from the 2 of them.

The tattoo for Bis represents his battle with LL/career, the removal of the tattoo could mean that Bis has gotten over the beef or that Hip Hop in general is recognizing him for his music now.

Wavy!

In the words of Roc Marciano:

As far as his melodies… they were second to none as far as I was concerned. In my opinion, he was the street version of what Drake is—the fans can have Drake, but the streets have Max.

However his case turns out, I would like the brother to be remembered. I feel like Max was too good of an artist to be swept under the rug and have people not remember. When he got locked up, I was like, “Damn, we just lost our next big star.” I don’t mean New York’s next star, I mean hip-hop’s next big star, because Max was bigger than New York.

Double standard, anyone?
When a man “talks dirty” or tries to spit game to a woman they run the risk of being sued for sexual harassment, especially in a work environment.

But when the ladies “talk dirty” to men they get paid…
