Although it would probably be nice to be recognized on a more mainstream level, Slaughterhouse has already made it clear they are unwilling to sacrifice their lyrical edge to appeal to the masses. In fact, their satirical song Park It Sideways was mocking artists who talk about the “glitz and glam” that comes with fame.

More recently, Slaughterhouse was in another interview where they once again assured they will not sacrifice their pen.

Of course, it also helps when Joell’s fellow Slaughterhouse member, Crooked I is the host of COB Radio every Wednesday night on SkeeTV, where he can play anything he wants!

Mr. Yaowa will continue his rise in the music industry by himself (or with Slaughterhouse) as long as his fans still want to see him. Joell’s most recent television appearance was for the Slaughterhouse BET Cypher 2013.

A nice little play on words here.

First, Joell is ending his verse by combining 2 different parts of the hook: “gotta glow” and “gotta go”.

Also, Joell is giving y'all some warning. Everyone should cover their eyes for possibly 2 reasons:

1. To hide their shame for paling in comparison to an artist such as Joell.

2. Joell’s ability and raw talent is emanating outwards, as if his aura (his glow) is blinding his competitors.

A reference to Nas' I Can off his God’s Son album.

Joell is proclaiming, as he has before, that he is uncontested on the microphone. There is no rapper in the game today that could lyrically attack Joell and expect to leave with a shred of dignity.

E. Honda is a character in the Capcom video game series, Street Fighter. E. Honda’s signature move was called the hundred hand slap which is exactly as it sounds like. The opposing player would be struck repeated by Honda’s lightning speed punches.

This is likely a reference to Pac’s So Many Tears. These lines nearly mimic Pac’s closing lines from the final verse:

I’m fallin' to the floor; beggin' for the Lord to let me in
To Heaven’s door – Shed so many tears

Nice double entendre here!

• Of course the first meaning relates to slinging/pitching drugs on the streets. As a dealer, your drugs are literally hitting the homes of your consumers and ultimately they get high off your product.

• The second meaning comes from the “high pitched tone”. Dice (and all of Horseshoe Gang) are making such great music that their songs are as addicting as crack itself!

Russian Roulette is the ultimate high-risk game of chance. You place one bullet in a revolver, spin the cylinder, aim the gun at your head, and pull the trigger.

The point here is that you never know if and when your time would/could come. Something as medial as checking the mail could be the instance your enemy strikes and guns you down.

Brinks is a security and protection transport company, typically involved in the transfer of large amounts of cash or other highly valuable items. For this reason, they come equipped with large, highly durable, bullet-proof trucks and armed guards. Though this poses a serious obstacle, if you are at your wits end, you’ll try anything to make ends meet.
