The most infamous of the many school shootings that occurred in 2018 happened on February 14th in Parkland, FL. A 19-year-old gunman walked into Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School and murdered 17 students and adults with a legally purchased AR-15 rifle.

The incident poured gasoline on the fire that is the gun control debate in the US. However, instead of implementing more or improved gun control legislation, the school district implemented a policy that requires students to wear clear backpacks and ID badges. Classroom doors as well as exterior doors and gates have to remain locked also.
