Lupe is assuring Michael Young that the evening will go as planned, while the hit man has a different ending in mind. The interesting thing to note here is that Lupe and The Game’s hitman both know exactly what the plans are. It’s like the ghetto Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar.

Note the subtle wordplay: in this context grub is food and slugs are bullets. But grubs can be worms and insects, or slugs.

The hit man, The Game, has an uncanny accuracy on the information he has over Michael Young. There could be a couple possible reasons for this:

  1. It seems likely that Lupe Fiasco’s character set up MYH with The Game, since he knows EVERY SINGLE DETAIL about him (as seen in the last line of Gemstone’s rap).

  2. The character of “The Game” is apparently eavesdropping on this conversation with his “Wiretap ears” as explained in another song of Lupe “Real Recognize Real”.

They say the game has a belly of a beast, blunts for fingers and hollowtips for teeth, wiretaps for ears, Nike Airs for feet

One of the few rare sentimental Brotha Lynch tracks. It’s a nice surprise in the middle of Dinner and a Movie, an album full of serial killer, cannibalistic, bloody lyricism. The song is about Brotha Lynch’s pain of not being able to provide for his son, one of the defining traits of a man.
