When Twitter becomes over-capacity, a fail whale appears to indicate this condition. The user cannot post tweets or send messages during this time. Vizzy is saying he’ll always succeed and be able to get out his message and won’t succumb to the pressure.

Also a reference to Verizon, a cell phone company whose commercials star a star a man who personifies the company and spreading their business with an ever-growing following.

This line is a play on the phrase “black out”. He’s going to drink until he blacks out i.e. gets so drunk he begins to act irrationally. Considering his pastime, this would probably involve violence.

It also calls on the stereotype that blacks oftentimes overdo certain things, whether it’s food, violence etc.

When one blacks out (faints or loses consciousness), all they see is black. February is Black History Month, and black history can be easily found as it is spread around and celebrated a lot during this month. All a lot of people see during this time is literally black or black related.

XV and his dudes did it as well, so much they looked (figuratively) like the Blue Man Group, a creative organization that specializes in the production of comedy, music and multimedia reliant concerts and theatrical shows.

He’s afraid of our society becoming a fake or “plastic” nation, due to the things we see on TV (talked about in the line above). The ‘dread that like a Haitian’ reference is just a play on words as some Haitians are known for wearing dreads. “I don’t want a plastic nation” is also a reference to Public Enemy’s song “Plastic Nation”.

In the video in which he explains the HiiiPower he says that everything we thought in school is just a half truth. He also reiterates that the government is feeding us with bullshit, so everything is just a “figment of imagination”.

Kendrick’s using the double meaning of “plastic” to say that he doesn’t want the fictitious display of reality on TV (fake people, fake faces/tits) to actually spill over into the real world – just like a Haitian doesn’t want a nation full of plastic. Let me explain the Haiti part.

Haiti is one of the poorest countries in the world with 80% of its population living under the poverty line. According to reports, on average, Haiti had ONE toilet for every 1,000 people – and this statistic was before the catastrophic 2010 Haiti Earthquake. As a result of the lack of toilets, many Haitians resort to using “flying toilets”, in other words, they shit in plastic bags and then throw them away. This practice creates scenes like this – this photo was taken in a slum in Cap-Haïtien, Haiti:

Sights like these are why Haitians “dread” a “plastic nation”. These piles of plastic bags full of waste are everywhere in slums and not only do they clog up streets & drainage, they also attract flies & are hotspots for disease and when it rains, the excrement can actually end up entering people’s homes. The problem is so bad that the Haitian government introduced a ban on certain plastics last year.So for Haitians, plastic bags are the stuff of nightmares – and Kendrick compares this “dread” about physical plastic to his own fear of his world becoming full of “plastic” people.

He is comparing his eventual assassination to either the JFK or Tupac assassinations. The official report of JFK’s death (known as the Magic Bullet Theory) by the Warren Commission had many glaring faults in it. The conspiracy in the next line also refers to this. There is also much mystery surrounding Tupac’s murder regarding governmental cover up. Also, Tupac predicted his assassination several years earlier, hence “my fate is inevitable” in the next line. .

He could also be referring to Fred Hampton who was assassinated by Chicago PD. This is discussed later in the song. He also adds emphasis to “every-BODY” because of the autopsy is of his body. .

Since he was talking about Africa in the line above, these line can remind one about the South African anti-apartheid activist Steven Biko, who died in 1977 due to police brutality while in custody. .

The most potent weapon in the hands of the oppressor is the mind of the oppressed.

Marcus Garvey was a prolific Jamaican participant in Pan-Africanism and Black Nationalism. He also influenced the Rastafari in Jamaica.

Pan-Africanism was a movement which sought to unify African people into “one African community,” and often pushed for them to move back to the continent itself. Garvey also founded the Universal Negro Improvement Association and African Communities League. As soon as Garvey became a big enough problem for the government, they had him deported to his homeland of Jamaica and essentially silenced him.
