The Chipmunks' Sound

This episode spoofs a popular children’s movie and music trio, Alvin and the Chipmunks, which is represented by three animated chipmunks; Alvin, Simon and Theodore who can sing in a remarkably high pitch (courtesy of technology). The movies are centered around the chipmunks building a career out of their singing talent.

However Robot Chicken has a slightly more humorous explanation as to how the three developed the ability to reach extraordinarily high octaves. Counteractive to what the movie claims, it seems as though their talent was not an innate ability.

Joseph & The Silver Cup

It is questionable as to why Jacob would have done this as there are various reasons for doing so that lie within the state of the relationship with his brothers at that particular time, more specifically Benjamin – after he was betrayed and beaten. One common interpretation by Bible scholars is that Jacob was trying to ‘set up’ his brother and observe how he would act towards him in such a situation.

Biblical commentery by medieval scholar Rashi points out that the cup was extremely valuable and a treasured item for Jacob, which had a thin goblet like appearance. It was also fairly large.

If you find that silver cup in the sack of one of us, then let him die, and we will be your slaves.

Emperor Palpatine’s mamma must know very little about the star wars universe

Ugnots, more commonly known as Ugnaughts are one of the many dwarf like mythical creatures featured in the star wars series. They have a rather unpleasant looking appearance thus the ugly joke. Luke seems to be insinuating that Palpatine’s Mama is as ugly, if not, uglier than these creatures.

This adds to the comedic effect of the episode, as showing fear is against the oppressive and menacing tyrant-like personality that Palpatine possesses in the original Star Wars movies – someone who appears to be without fear judging by his creepy face and agressive nature.

YOU SHALL NOT PASS!!!

A famous catchphrase that was made popular by Gandalf himself in the movie The Fellowship of the Ring, which is part of the Lord of The Rings trilogy. In the action packed scene Gandalf is on a crumbling bridge facing a large demonic creature where he strikes down his staff and confidently yells “You shall not pass”.

The catchphrase became popular shortly after the movie was released in late 2001 and continues to be used to this date, often with the intention of humor. It has also been turned into a well renowned internet meme and various gifs such as the one below.
