Region locking or lockout is a system that works with a security chip implemented in consoles which prevents gamers from running software on their home consoles that has been imported from different regions.
At the recent 2013 E3 conference, Sony and Microsoft announced that they would be eliminating region locking from their new consoles – despite this, Nintendo continues to use it.
The prominent region codes are
- Asia (NTSC-J)
- North America (NTSC U/C)
- Europe and Oceania (PAL, PAL/E)
- China (NTSC-C)

Kim Jung Ju as pictured above is the founder of the successful online gaming company Nexon. According to Forbes Kim has an estimated net worth of $1.6 billion (As of April 2013) and Eliska is confident that he has much to offer to bricklink and will further extend its ever-growing success.
The following letter from Kim addresses the bricklink community and gives a brief overview of what he hopes to achieve with the site.
Dear BrickLink Community,
I am extremely pleased to be taking over the operations of BrickLink.com. I’ve been a LEGO fan for 40 years and an avid user of BrickLink.com for over a decade. My first plans are to upgrade the website, and do our best to make users happier and more prosperous, while staying true to the original vision of BrickLink.com founder, Daniel Jezek. We will work hard in order to ensure that BrickLink.com becomes stable, secure and as user-friendly as possible.
I want to sincerely thank the family of Daniel Jezek, especially his mother Eliska, as well as the BrickLink.com Community, for the opportunity to upgrade and operate such a beloved website as BrickLink.com. In order to expedite the process of renovating BrickLink.com, I and Bricklink Limited will be asking users to e-mail us with their ideas for the improved functionality of the site, as well as any current issues that need to be addressed in order to provide users with the best possible selling and buying experience. We’ll establish those lines of communication very soon.

Bricklink is an unofficial lego marketing website where collectors can trade, purchase and sell their own LEGO items via individual stores which operate as part of the bricklink company under the bricklink domain. It was founded by Daniel Jezek in 2001.
The original CEO and founder of the company Daniel Jezek passed away in 2010 and ever since his mother Eliska has replaced his position. However, Eliska stepped down from her position and Jung-Ju “Jay” Kim replaced her as the new CEO in June 2013.
Eliska briefly mentions in this letter that she will still remain a part of bricklink.
As of June the 3rd 2013, Bricklink has 188,562,333 items and hosts 7,185 online stores.

The Quadratic formula can be used for any quadratic situation so long as
- No step by step working out is required
It should be used when factorisation is either difficult, time consuming or not possible.
Tips for students
If a paper asks you to solve a quadratic equation using a specific method such as completing the square do not use the quadratic formula as marks will most likely be deducted.
