#GBC Shovel

SEE IT IN ACTION HERE!

Built by GBC expert, Philippe Hurbain, this model loops the function of transferring GBC balls into the shovel, and then onto the next module. The mechanism only uses one motor linked to a 40t gear wheel to control the function of both the loader and the shovel.

#‘Strandbeest’ Walker Frame

INSTRUCTIONS FOR FRAME ONLY

The Strandbeest LEGO walker, built by Jason Allemann, was inspired by Theo Jansen’s classic Strandbeest walking mechanism. Using power functions, Allemann has implemented these mechanics into his Steam Punk themed LEGO walker. The cooler part? He’s provided instructions for the base!

#Killer Dozers

SEE THEM IN ACTION HERE!
These ‘Killer Dozers’, built by Philippe Hurbain, serve as an alternate model (almost – requires extra battery box and RC handset) to the 8275 bulldozer.

Each player control a dozer, the purpose of the game is to tip over the opponent. With the RC handset you control your dozer to go straight forward, to turn in place backwards, and to lift/lower the blade to raise your opponent. Each dozer is set on a different channel, and of course it is forbidden to switch your remote on your opponent channel!

#Mindcuber EV3

SEE IT IN ACTION!

David Gilday’s EV3 version of his previous NXT 2.0 Mindcuber utilizes the EV3’s new technologies to solve a Rubik’s Cube in just around 1 minute and 50 seconds!

MindCub3r is more efficient than previous versions of MindCuber that were created with MINDSTORMS NXT. It is currently able to solve the Rubik’s Cube puzzle in an average of about 24 moves in 1 min 50 secs.

This efficiency is enabled by the higher performance ARM9 processor and significantly greater 64MB RAM in the EV3 than the previous NXT. A new software algorithm was developed especially for the robot with a four-phase lookup-table driven algorithm requiring approximately 5MB RAM.

#Instructions available later this year

#Sudoku Solver

SEE IT IN ACTION!

A fantastic example of what the NXT is capable of achieving, Andersson from http://www.tiltedtwister.com, has crafted and programmed this beautiful robot using a LEGO Mindstorms NXT 1.0, to solve a Sudoku puzzle, AND FILL IN THE ANSWERS – all by itself! . This is also build-able with a 2.0 kit with the exception of a few extra parts including a Light Sensor (unless you are able to reprogram it with the colour sensor) and a turntable.

#Tilted Twister 2.0
SEE IT IN ACTION!

Hans Andersson from http://www.tiltedtwister.com has created this masterpiece out of a single NXT 2.0 Kit, following up his 1.0 version. Tilted Twister is able to solve a Rubik’s Cube no matter how jumbled it may be! Different to its predecessor, Tilted Twister can solve a standard Rubik’s cube – without having to replace any stickers.

Tilted Twister 2.0 takes a fast approach to solving, supporting Herbert Kociemba’s Two-Phase Algorithm.

#Claw Striker

SEE IT IN ACTION!

Built by Dave Parker, from NXT programs, this robot uses an ultrasonic sensor to lock on targets, and then adjust and strike its opponents with its monstrous claw according to the distance read by the ultrasonic sensor.

This Claw Striker will use the ultrasonic sensor to automatically locate a target, adjust its distance to the target, then swing it’s claw like a whip to strike the target.

With a pre-prepared program and versions for both the NXT 1.0 and 2.0, this is the perfect project to introduce to a builder who wants a fairly simple build, with a fun program.
