The introduction, sampling Solomon Burke’s “I Want Jesus To Walk With Me” sets the theme for the song; we are constantly fighting temptation and need God’s help.

It’s true, we never blame ourselves for our sinful actions. Although these sources that he mentions do indeed provide temptation, ultimately the decision is up to us on whether or not we commit the sin. God wants us to be responsible and accountable for ourselves.

These two lines are a follow on from the previous where the artist questions the audience as to who is to blame for mens absurd sexual desire. He asks first if its the fact that many women wear revealing clothes in today’s society, however he then goes on to say that you are accountable for yourselves and that many of these guys unhealthy sex addiction actually originated from them looking at pornography (inappropriate images of women, often found through internet)

Many pedophiles start off with looking at something as ‘harmless’ as pornography, however their sex addiction grows bigger and bigger until they eventually end up committing criminal offences such as rape. Here he shows his disgust for these people by describing them as ‘sick men’. He gives an example of a common victim to rapists/pedophiles – little girls.

These lines are used to warn the listener about how pornography has the potential power to corrupt one’s life.

People often highlight the importance of wearing your best clothes to church to make sure you appear neat and tidy. Although Lecrae isn’t saying that we should purposely be wearing scrappy clothes to church he says that you can’t judge someone on who they really are by what they look like. Furthermore wearing a suit to church, although it may impress others, it does certainly not mean you have a personal relationship with God or make your relationship with God any better than those around you.

When you take into consideration all that DMX has been through in his career and the sheer fact that he is still alive after all his lawsuits, drug addictions and the amount of time he has spent in jail – it’s very easy to see that God is at work in his life and his Christian faith is keeping him in tact.

Adam was originally destined to live forever. However due to the incident that occurred in the Garden of Eden with the tree of good and evil knowledge sin was introduced into the world and it interfered with his ability to establish a wholesome relationship with God – which prior to this sinful event, he did have. In fact Adam was created in God’s image, to mirror him in the way that his life would be perfect and free of sin but because Adam gave into the temptation of eating the fruit of the tree – he disobeyed his Father and his life became imperfect. Death was introduced because of sin.

The Lord God made garments of skin for Adam and his wife and clothed them. And the Lord God said, “The man has now become like one of us, knowing good and evil. He must not be allowed to reach out his hand and take also from the tree of life and eat, and live forever.” So the Lord God banished him from the Garden of Eden to work the ground from which he had been taken. After he drove the man out, he placed on the east side of the Garden of Eden cherubim and a flaming sword flashing back and forth to guard the way to the tree of life.

Aaron was Moses' brother. Aaron and Moses were instructed by God to go to speak to the Pharaoh (who had enslaved the people of Israel) in order to convince him to let the Israelites go. The story of how the Israelites were enslaved can be found here

Pharaoh ignored the two’s request and thus God revealed his power to the Pharaoh through the 10 Plagues of Egypt. The ten plagues of Egypt follow as such.

1. Water to Blood

14 And the LORD said to Moses, Pharaoh’s heart is hardened, he refuses to let the people go. 15 Get you to Pharaoh in the morning; see, he goes out to the water; and you shall stand by the river’s brink against he come; and the rod which was turned to a serpent shall you take in your hand. 16 And you shall say to him, The LORD God of the Hebrews has sent me to you, saying, Let my people go, that they may serve me in the wilderness: and, behold, till now you would not hear. 17 Thus said the LORD, In this you shall know that I am the LORD: behold, I will smite with the rod that is in my hand on the waters which are in the river, and they shall be turned to blood. 18 And the fish that is in the river shall die, and the river shall stink; and the Egyptians shall loathe to drink of the water of the river.

Exodus 7:21

2. Frogs

If you refuse to let them go, I will plague your whole country with frogs.

Exodus 8:2

3. Gnats or Lice

Then the LORD said to Moses, “Tell Aaron, ‘Stretch out your staff and strike the dust of the ground,’ and throughout the land of Egypt the dust will become gnats.”

Exodus 8:16

4. Plague of Flies

Then the Lord said to Moses, “Get up early in the morning and confront Pharaoh as he goes to the river and say to him, ‘This is what the Lord says: Let my people go, so that they may worship me. 21 If you do not let my people go, I will send swarms of flies on you and your officials, on your people and into your houses. The houses of the Egyptians will be full of flies; even the ground will be covered with them.

Exodus 8:20-32

5. Plague of Murrain or Pestilence

Then the Lord said to Moses, “Go in to Pharaoh and tell him, ‘Thus says the Lord God of the Hebrews: “Let My people go, that they may serve Me. 2 For if you refuse to let them go, and still hold them, 3 behold, the hand of the Lord will be on your cattle in the field, on the horses, on the donkeys, on the camels, on the oxen, and on the sheep—a very severe pestilence. 4 And the Lord will make a difference between the livestock of Israel and the livestock of Egypt. So nothing shall die of all that belongs to the children of Israel.”’” 5 Then the Lord appointed a set time, saying, “Tomorrow the Lord will do this thing in the land.”

Exodus 9

6. Plague of Boils

So the Lord said to Moses and Aaron, “Take for yourselves handfuls of ashes from a furnace, and let Moses scatter it toward the heavens in the sight of Pharaoh. 9 And it will become fine dust in all the land of Egypt, and it will cause boils that break out in sores on man and beast throughout all the land of Egypt.” 10 Then they took ashes from the furnace and stood before Pharaoh, and Moses scattered them toward heaven. And they caused boils that break out in sores on man and beast. 11 And the magicians could not stand before Moses because of the boils, for the boils were on the magicians and on all the Egyptians. 12 But the Lord hardened the heart of Pharaoh; and he did not heed them, just as the Lord had spoken to Moses.

Exodus 9:8

7. Plague of Hail

13 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Rise early in the morning and stand before Pharaoh, and say to him, ‘Thus says the Lord God of the Hebrews: “Let My people go, that they may serve Me, 14 for at this time I will send all My plagues to your very heart, and on your servants and on your people, that you may know that there is none like Me in all the earth. 15 Now if I had stretched out My hand and struck you and your people with pestilence, then you would have been cut off from the earth. 16 But indeed for this purpose I have raised you up, that I may show My power in you, and that My name may be declared in all the earth. 17 As yet you exalt yourself against My people in that you will not let them go. 18 Behold, tomorrow about this time I will cause very heavy hail to rain down, such as has not been in Egypt since its founding until now. 19 Therefore send now and gather your livestock and all that you have in the field, for the hail shall come down on every man and every animal which is found in the field and is not brought home; and they shall die.”’”

Exodus 9:13

8. Plague of Locusts

This is what the LORD,the God of the Hebrews, says: ‘How long will you refuse to humble yourself before me? Let my people go, so that they may worship me. If you refuse to let them go, I will bring locusts into your country tomorrow. They will cover the face of the ground so that it cannot be seen. They will devour what little you have left after the hail, including every tree that is growing in your fields. They will fill your houses and those of all your officials and all the Egyptians—something neither your fathers nor your forefathers have ever seen from the day they settled in this land till now.

Exodus 10:3

9. Plague of Darkness

Then the LORD said to Moses, “Stretch out your hand toward the sky so that darkness will spread over Egypt—darkness that can be felt.” So Moses stretched out his hand toward the sky, and total darkness covered all Egypt for three days. No one could see anyone else or leave his place for three days.

Exodus 10:21

10. Plague of Death

Every firstborn son in Egypt will die, from the firstborn son of Pharaoh, who sits on the throne, to the firstborn son of the slave girl, who is at her hand mill, and all the firstborn of the cattle as well

Exodus 11:1-12

Finally after the 10 plagues Pharaoh and the other Egyptians urged Moses and Aaron to get out of the country and take the Israelites with them because they were scared they would die.

Lecrae mentions two currently popular fashion items, Jeans and Khakis. Khakis are another popular style of pants.

No purpose sir so worthless

Taking into account what Lecrae said in the previous two lines, some people are so caught up in what they look like on the outside and the clothes they wear, always getting the latest and greatest fashion trends (New Jeans & Khakis). They spend to much time on being self-conscious that they don’t realise their true purpose in life.

They appear ‘cool’ and up to date so they feel accepted by society but really deep inside they haven’t found their purpose in life – Lecrae classifies living this type of lifestyle as worthless
