Having an addiction to money is the equivalent of having an addiction to crack (drug). Both will leave you wanting more and more until you end up with a dead mind and having nothing else to live for.

Crack can give you a heart attack and physically kill you. Love of money can get you in situations that can also kill you, such as dealing and being in gangs.

Heavy drinking means to excessively drink alcohol. Club hoppin' means from going club to club (night clubs in particular) and do club activities which can involve drinking, smoking and hooking up with people you don’t even know.

Thrill seeking is undertaking an activity that is often perceived as dangerous, exciting and adventurous. In the case of this song, an example of a thrill seeking activity would be taking drugs.

Pill Poppin means to take all kinds of pills (drugs) even if they weren’t subscribed to you by a doctor, this activity makes you high.

Hell is a place of eternal perishing as mentioned in the Bible.

And if your hand or your foot causes you to stumble, cut it off and throw it from you; it is better for you to enter life crippled or lame, than having two hands or two feet, to be cast into the eternal fire (Matthew. 18:8).1

Here Lecrae says not even people who burn in hell have had anywhere near the amount of pain that Jesus went through while dying on the cross

After the music stops

You can sing worship songs, donate money to charity and claim you love Jesus but all that means nothing unless you actually have a personal relationship with God and have accepted him into your heart.

This also references people who live ‘two different lives’ by having a certain personality in the church but being someone else outside. They can practice being a Christian in the church but none of that matters if they aren’t living that life outside of the church

The Garden of Eden was a holy and perfect place, originally free from Sin. We are constantly sinning and live in a sinful corrupt world, not the world God had planned for us. When Adam and Eve ate the forbidden fruit, they were removed from Eden.

When Lecrae uses “us all out of Eden,” he is referring to Adam and Eve as our ancestors. Once they were kicked out, the future generations were kicked out with them.

When God created Adam he also created Eve, to give him company.

God said to the two that they may have the Garden of Eden (the place where they were created, mentioned in the Bible) to themselves as long as they obeyed his one command – which was not to eat from or go near the ‘Tree of Knowledge of Good and evil’.

This tree was full of sin and one day Eve tempted Adam to eat some fruit from the tree. Satan (the devil) came to them in the form of a snake and tempted him further. Adam gave into the temptation and ate the fruit, disobeying God and thus separating them from Him. Even though Adam knew what he had done was wrong, he put the blame on Eve as Lecrae mentions in the first line ‘And how he shifted the blame on his dame’. Subsequently this became known as the fall of man and where sin originated from.

This line is a reference to a famous movie franchise called Pirates of the Caribbean where the main character – a pirate named Jack Sparrow, ventures out to conquer the Caribbean (a region consisting of the Caribbean sea and it’s islands) by defeating enemy fleets.

Here Lecrae says that God is the Jack Sparrow of his Caribbean, meaning that God is his hero or conqueror (just like Jack Sparrow was in the movies) of His land (using the word Caribbean to describe his land)

A reference to the story David and Goliath the giant from the Bible where David takes down Goliath with a pebble from a slingshot. The moral from the story is that with God on your side, anything is possible – there is nothing that you can’t conquer/overcome with him

Although he looks the same person on the outside he has a brand new personality due to his relationship with Christ
