A “coke nail” is when a person has one nail on a finger that is longer than the others. This nail is used for scooping up cocaine so it can be easily snorted.

Lil Peep was an avid drug user himself, so he sees no issues with a girl who has this trait and is willing to let her hook up with him and his friends.

Moreover, psychologists at Royal Holloway University have shown the brain is unable to cope with the combination of visual data and the tactile sensation of kissing. In late 2015, the University of Louisville was put under investigation by the NCAA for allegedly hiring strippers during recruiting visits in order to attract players to their school. Later, in 2017, the University was once again put under investigation; this time for secretly paying a recruit an unknown amount of money that was believed to be upwards of $100,000. The head coach of the basketball team during this time was Rick Pitino.

Just as money was secretly provided to a recruit under Pitino’s watch, Drake secretly provides money to his shooters — a play on basketball, although Drake is referring to shooters with guns. Moreover, playing even more off the aforementioned scandals, Drake furthers the reference by stating that he also takes his shooters out to strip clubs.

It’s worth noting that the University of Louisville is a major rival to the University of Kentucky — a school that Drake has shown his love for on numerous occasions. He has been seen at Kentucky basketball games and even mentioned them on the track “Scholarships”:

After spending multiple lines talking about the thought of both premeditated murder and suicide, Kanye shows that he will give no apologies for his actions. The “bad things” he thinks about are out of his control, as Kanye has been very open about his mental health issues, portraying his bipolar disorder on the album cover of ye and rapping in depth about the issue on “I Feel Like That”:

Kanye is portraying his “shadow self”—a psychological term coined by Carl Jung:

One does not become enlightened by imagining figures of light, but by making the darkness conscious. The latter procedure, however, is disagreeable and therefore not popular.

Kanye, here and throughout the album, explores the depth of his shadow; in this instance, admitting to the thought of premeditated murder. It is usually considered as first-degree murder due to the aggravated form of the act and is punished severely. In the United Sates, the punishment for first-degree murder is imprisonment for life or the death penalty.

However, this idea of premeditated murder can be interpreted in two separate ways:

The first interpretation is that of Kanye thinking about murdering someone else. Despite the severity of the thought, Kanye uses murder as an expression of love, stating how much he cares about the person in question. Furthermore, the consequence of this action shows that he would knowingly spend the rest of his life in prison for the person he loves. This sentiment may be toward Kim Kardashian, as on the track “Wouldn’t Leave,” Kanye alludes to how much he loves his wife for being loyal to him through thick and thin.

The second interpretation is that Kanye may actually be referring to committing suicide. Since he’s bipolar—as shown on the ye album cover—he shares two different moods. One side of him loves himself, and another side wants to die.

Maybe this could be related to the motifs of his daughter on this album? The line “premeditated murder” may suggest abortion, and it’s been confirmed he thought about aborting his daughter, but Kim stopped him.

The diamonds on Pusha’s neck are so flawless you can see through them. “Icy” and “cold” are common terms to describe jewellery.

The Inuit are members of an indigenous people of northern Canada and parts of Greenland and Alaska, who typically live in igloos.

When translated to English, “y tú” means “and you.“ So, when Push says, “y tu it”, he is really saying, “and you it”. Moreover, this grouping of words —“and you it”— is meant to sound like the aforementioned “Inuit”.

“Habla en español” translates to “Speak in Spanish”. So the full sentence is “Speak in Spanish, I, and you?”

Santo Domingo, the capital city of the Dominican Republic, is a media-described ‘Drug Mecca’. In 2008 alone, 661 Kilos of cocaine were confiscated within the city. Given his drug dealing past, it comes as no surprise that Pusha would be familiar with this area.

The word, “King,” has a specific purpose within these lines as it could be referencing Kingpins who travel to the city to obtain the product, or Pusha T himself, who has been given the nickname King Pusha.

Kings also sound like keys, which refer to the keys of the piano mentioned in the title and obviously keys of cocaine.

Also feel like there should be a separate mention to Ross’s first line, “This is for the…”. It being bundled with the Chorus isn’t right

‘Tupperware’ refers to a brand of plastic containers that are commonly used to store drugs in, allowing for an airtight seal and preventing it against oxidation.
