Xzibit knows that you can’t be afraid to use your gun if you get in a situation that requires it. But he also has seen too many of his niggas die because they couldn’t let themselves walk away from an argument. If you wanna make it far in this life you need to choose your battles.

Earlier in the song he advised his son to always be strapped, just in case some crooked cops try to shoot him.

When your neck is on the line stand ground then bust
In God we trust but just in case keep it loaded and locked
Ready to rock
Then shake the spot
The foundation

So the message is to stay strapped but to not feel pressure to use the gun.

These lines serve as a triple entendre. First, rain is a common occurrence in the month of May, which ties in with the mention of “downfall and "drought.”

Secondly, this is a play on the name of undefeated professional American boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr., who—as of this song’s 2013 release—was the reigning champion; with 44 wins and no losses. At the time, he was gearing up for his 45th win against Canelo Alvarez.

Thirdly, making it rain means throwing wads of cash into the air so that the bills “rain” down—usually at a strip club. Mayweather’s net worth was just under a billion dollars in 2018. He also topped the highest-paid athlete lists of both Forbes and Sports Illustrated from 2012 through 2014. This third interpretation coincides with the fact that Floyd owns a strip club called Girl Collection, in Las Vegas.

Twain Gotti was arrested for murder after police were tipped off to these lyrics, and the verse was cited in an affidavit for a search warrant in Newport News, VA.

The murder took place in 2007 and had been considered a cold case until this development. Twain Gotti is now “charged with two counts of murder, malicious wounding and firearms charges in the deaths of Brian Dean, 20, and Christopher Horton, 16.

Steward was 16 at the time of the homicides, court documents show. Witnesses told police that Horton and Steward fought prior to his shooting. A police investigation indicates that the shooting was gang related, according to the affidavit.

Horton was on his front porch with Dean, a friend from North Carolina, when a young man walked up to the house and opened fire with a handgun at 1:15 p.m, police said at the time of the homicide. Horton was shot in the chest and died at the scene. Dean was shot in the head. He died a day later after being taken off life support. – The Daily Press

50 Cent was shot 9 times, and by all means could have and should have died. 50 frames this by saying that someone tried to send him to heaven, but when he was at the gates they sent him back down to Earth to live some more instead.

There’s a famous saying that “only the good die young”, which some people may also recognize from the Billy Joel song of the same name. 50 jokingly tells us that he was not eligible to die at such a young age, because he was never a good kid. He’s shot people, he’s been shot, he’s sold drugs. Some would consider him a rotten apple.

Fiddy would later write in his autobiography From Pieces to Weight that after getting shot and not dying, it dawned on him that he might have a purpose in life.

This could also be a reference to one of Fiddy’s earlier songs called The Good Die Young.

Los is riding around in his 750 BMW with three chicks and is listening to music by E-40.

The term being 7-30, relates back to the name of a psychiatric evaluation form at New York State prison facilities.

Big L schooled us all to the meaning in his joint Ebonics (Criminal Slang):

If you 730, that mean you crazy

730 is 20 less than the 750 BMW he’s driving. he mentioned in the first line, but he isn’t riding on 20 inch rims. This could also refer to him only having a 20 mile range left in his car because he’s riding on fumes.

Coming from his old roots, a kid living in a low-income house in Chicago, Kanye has come a long way, both mentally and musically. The “old” Kanye is seen as a happy, soulful guy who made several radio-friendly tunes. 10 years later, and he’s starting an artistic-driven revolution while making hits that emphasize abrasive, industrial synths and a darker overall sound.

Many critiqued Kanye over his change, but like Ye’s longtime musical collaborator/friend, Jay Z, says, if you like his old shit, buy his old shit!
