Push isn’t getting his hands dirty for you, he’ll let you worry about serving that sentence.

Bears a strong similarity to his line in Feeling Myself:

I propose a toast to every living kingpin
Smart enough to delegate their work to their wing man

It means that he’s so high up in the drug game that he has all his underlings do the dirty work – King Push sure as hell aint going to jail on a murder charge; if he wants someone dead he’ll have a low-level power hungry drug runner do the hit and take the blame

Pusha throwing out how he just wants to be himself,

Push’s next album is named My Name Is My Name, a reference to a scene in The Wire where Marlo says my name is my name meaning that he is his reputation. His reputation is everything, and the same goes for Pusha.

He discusses the title in this interview:

Basically, I was trying to pick a title that embodied who I am as an artist…and I wanted people to understand that Pusha is everything that I really, really am

Snoop’s never made his Crip allegiance secret. He was part of the Long Beach Rollin 20 crip set and has mentioned the gang in a bunch of different songs he’s done.

From California Vacation:

Uncle Snoopy is it true you from that 20 gang?
All the time neph', I gotta let my nuts hang

From Drop it Like it’s Hot

I keep a blue flag hanging out my backside
But only on the left side, yeah that’s the Crip side

Rozay uses some food wordplay here, where me so can be read as miso; as in the soup that’s often served at sushi joints.

He’s also saying that all she wants is Ross, and he’ll take her out on dates to nice sushi restaurants.

Nice play on the word beef. The word is consistently used in rap songs to signify being in fights with other rappers or gangsters. One of the most famous examples of this usage of the word is in The Notorious B.I.G.’s song Beef.

Los brings the line back into the realm of the actual meaning of beef with the part about Jamaican Stores, which usually sell food that has beef in it.

Having friends close enough to you that they are willing to take the fall for you is a measure of closeness in the rap game.

  • Jay-Z had a homie (Emory Jones) catch a case for him by pleading guilty to a cocaine trafficking charge that Jigga has insinuated he had a hand in. He referenced this episode in Kanye West’s song Clique

Least that what my check say, lost my homie for a decade
Nigga down for like 12 years, ain’t hug his son since the second grade
He never told. Who he gonna tell? We top of the totem pole

  • Diddy allegedly had his Bad Boy signee Shyne take the fall for him in a nightclub shooting incident. The incident was referenced by Pusha T in New God Flow, while also insinuating that if Kanye ever needed someone to go to jail for him, Push was his man:

I think it’s good that ‘Ye got a blow dealer
A hot temper, matched with a cold killer
I came aboard for more than just to rhyme with him
Think ’99, when Puff woulda had Shyne with him – yuugh!

If the politicians want to put him behind bars, Jay-Z will actually commit a real crime. He’ll buy a kilo of cocaine for the price of rapper Chief Keef’s age, $17,000. Using numbers such as age to represent the kilo price for cocaine is something he has done before.

Jigga-man doesn’t see visiting a country on vacation as a crime, and he’s getting pissed for all the shit he’s taking for going somewhere with his wife and kid.

Jay-Z notoriously used to sell crack on the streets of NYC, so it’s fair to say he knows a thing or two about flooding the streets with hard drugs

Chief Keef later approved of the line on twitter

You can also read it as him literally offering to buy a kilo for Keef to distribute, as Keef is “closer” to the streets than Hov at this point.

In addition to the fully loaded clip in the gun, he always keeps an extra bullet ready to fire in the chamber. Bears some similarity to another West Coast legend’s line:

16 in the clip and one in the hole
Nate Dogg is about to make some bodies turn cold
Now they dropping and yelling
It’s a tad bit late
Nate Dogg and Warren G had to regulate

Nate Dogg in Warren G’s classic hit Regulate
