A subtle and rather sad touch by Stalley here. He points out the relatively innocuous nature of the tools that were used to create the crack epidemic, which had such disastrous consequences

A pen’s ink is a central image in much hip-hop. See this famous Rakim couplet, for example:

I start to think, and then I sink
Into the paper, like I was ink
When I’m writing, I’m trapped in between the lines
I escape when I finish the rhyme

Stalley mentions two infamous murdering couples in order to pun on “killing” his ladies in bed. Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow were a bank-robbing, policeman-killing team in the 1930s whose exploits were immortalized in a 1967 movie

Mickey and Mallory Knox are the central serial-killing couple in Oliver Stone’s 1994 film Natural Born Killers. They are portrayed by Woody Harrelson and Juliette Lewis

Tip went into more detail with the Daily Beast about the circumstances surrounding his arrest:

The Daily Beast: I’ve always been curious about the initial weapons arrest, and why you needed this heavy arsenal of automatic machine guns with silencers on them.

T.I.: Well, to understand that, you need to understand my specific circumstances. An attempt was made on my life, and the life of a friend [Philant Johnson] was taken. Those people had never been brought to justice. They were still out there and I was getting anonymous threats. They were identifying themselves as the ones who initiated that first attack, saying, “We’re going to finish the job … We know where you live,” so I was advised by my security to upgrade the equipment. Quite naturally, I was paranoid and concerned about mine and my family’s safety.
