This is actually a Robert G. Ingersoll quote. He was raised Christian, but came to be a well written and respected proponent of atheism. Brilliant dude. What Sage is getting at is that organized religion seeks to guilt us by preaching of sin and talks about the consequences of our actions. It strives to tell us how to live, and it uses fear. While all this is happening, Sage is more concerned with who we are and what we are feeling. He wants to minimize our suffering, aka our own personal hells.

No criticism to your annotation, but I think there is an alternative interpretation that can also be applied here.

“The Man” And “Homeland” could be referring to Homeland Security and he uses the name “Nazir” as stereotypical name for an Indian cashier to help paint the picture of the scene (if one were to listen to the song without the music video).

Because he was taking an excessive amount of time to chose his snack, his paranoia spikes and he believes Homeland Security knows he’s high and that Nazir is working undercover.
