Since recording this verse, Pusha has gone onto release four solo projects, including his critically acclaimed debut solo album, My Name Is My Name. At the time, he was not signed to West’s G.O.O.D. Music (Getting Out Our Dreams) and was only in Hawaii to record. He spoke about the process in an interview with The Guardian:

Honestly, I was only supposed to stay in Hawaii for a weekend and I stayed for one month. By the time I came home, I was signed to [West’s label] Good Music.
