The quote in question was introduced as an exhibit in Microsoft’s Iowa antitrust trial:

I would buy a Mac today if I was not working at Microsoft. If you run the equivalent of VPC on a MAC you get access to basically all Windows application software (although not the hardware). Apple did not lose their way. You must watch this new video below. I know this doesn’t show anything for businesses, but my point is about the philosophy that Apple uses. They think scenario. They think simple. They think fast. I know there is nothing hugely deep in this.

Macintosh sold their most computers ever at that point in 2006, increasing 17% from the prior year

However, two and a half years after this speech, when Apple released Mac OSx10.6 Snow Leopard on August 28, 2009; there was no PowerPC support, running exclusively on Intel

At this point, Macintosh had already changed processors 3 times: from 8-bit 6502 to Motorola 68k to PowerPC, and finally to Intel.

Comparatively, no other competitor had ever transitioned once successfully, with both Commodore and Atari losing success after attempting to switch from 6502 to 68k

Translated to fit modern U.S. circumstances (as of July 2013):

A play on the idiom “it takes a village to raise a child”. A village must save itself by protecting themselves from the “snakes” (backstabbers)
