Around the time Da Drought 3 was recorded, Wayne was arrested for attempted criminal possession of a weapon. What this line means is that he has a 9mm gun (a nine) that is so well hidden that cops are oblivious to it. You’re not going to stop him from carrying guns.

Considered by both fans and critics as the strongest song on Relapse. This song had begun to be written while sitting in rehab.

Via MTV:

There’s only one song on the record that I produced. It’s a track called ’Beautiful,’” [Eminem] said in [Vibe’s June 2009] issue. “And one of the only reasons that I put that track on there is that I feel like it’s the best song out of that batch that I did when I wasn’t sober. At the time I felt like, ’This is it for me.’ I wrote the first verse and a half in rehab, and when I came out, I finished it. It was the only song that marks that period without bringing me back to that place. Every other track not only didn’t fit with the album, but when I listened to it, it would bring up bad memories.

At its core, this is a song about depression, but by the end of the track, Eminem expresses optimism and hope for the future.

Eli Porter was an amateur rapper that went on a public access show and performed probably the worst rap ever, the resulting performance going viral on the Internet. He is mentally handicapped, but still wanted to pursue his dream of rapping. At one point famously exclaims, “I’m the best, mane… I diiid it!” Mr. Porter is referencing the video and this young soul:

(Also, they both share the last name Porter)

Daniel Tosh also had Eli Porter on his Comedy Central show, Tosh.O in which he featured Eli in one of his weekly episode ‘Web Redemptions’ in which he sets up an opportunity for Eli to rap again on a college campus. He was able to perform on stage again, with a feature from Skylar Grey and he actually did a very good job this time around.

Ruth’s Chris is a chain of steakhouses. The prices are pretty steep there, as it’s an upscale establishment (“the steaks is high”). Likewise, the stakes are high in the streets of Detroit (meaning that there are great risks to be taken there).

This is also a reference to De La Soul’s 1996 album and single “Stakes Is High.”

For rappers pretending they’re sick like kids who “play sick” to avoid going to school, then Mr. Porter and his crew will show you what being sick and getting ill on the mic is really all about.

This line also references a Jay-Z line from “Ain’t No Nigga”:

Weapons concealed, what the fuck y'all feel
When you niggas play sick, we can all get ill

In the mid-1990s, before Em got famous, he and Royce performed together under the moniker “Bad Meets Evil”; “Renegades” was born out of this project. Now they are back since Slaughterhouse was signed by Shady.

Also notice the relation between “dysfunctional pair” in this line and “panties that can’t function” from the previous line. (Panties is used in the plural – a single unit is a “pair of panties,” hence the dysfunctional pair.)

A sick nine-verse cypher freestyle by Detroit natives Mr. Porter, Royce da 5'9" and Eminem, taken from the Tim Westwood Show in late June 2010 to promote Eminem’s Recovery album. This is the first time that the lyrics have been posted (they were manually transcribed). An uncensored (but lower-quality) version is available here.

About a month before the freestyle, Royce da 5'9" collaborated with the Horseshoe G.A.N.G. on a song called “Horseshoe”, which was released by Planet C.O.B. (Circle of Bosses).
