Monch’s rhymes (“vernacular”) are so incredibly well made and constructed, even down to the tiniest details, that they resemble the inside of a car (“vehicular”).

If one thing goes wrong in a car the whole thing can stop. Monch doesn’t have that problem. A vehicle in this case could also represent the fast and pummeling rhymes he lays down on this track.

This skit only appears on the album version, and looking at its content, it’s easy to see why. On its other releases, such as when it was originally released as a b-side to “Clan in Da Front” and in the music video, the skit is omitted and instead starts with GZA’s intro.

RZA speaks on the origination of the skit in a 2017 Power 106 Los Angeles interview:

Their argument continues and fades out as the hook drops again. Indeed, the subject would remain prevalent in hip-hop for years to come.

Cube alludes to another song on this album, “You Can’t Fade Me,” but in this context, he’s giving Yo-Yo props on her rap skills; however, he lets her know that she’ll never be better than him or defeat him in a battle.

The average length of the human penis is 3.5 inches while flaccid and 5.5 while erect.

#THEMOREYOUKNOW

While bragging, a lot of rappers will refer to their penis as being exceptionally long, about 6-7 inches. Here, Yo-Yo is saying that Cube’s is ironically either freakishly small while erect or unable to become erect.

Cube doesn’t respect women that don’t work and pay their own way in life by either receiving handouts from the government or using their charms over men to take their money and use it for their own needs.

EPMD would go on to release their single “Gold Digger” a few months after this song was released.

A play on words – Men would refer to “pulling” as successfully attracting a girl to the extent of boning them, while a puppet has string which one “pulls” to make them move in a certain way. Yo-Yo’s not gonna be pushed around like that.

The Defense – Yo-Yo

Fellow California rapper and protégé of Cube, Yo-Yo built a strong identity in the ‘90s as a female MC and is probably best known for her song “You Can’t Play With My Yo-Yo,” which also features Cube. Here she provides a feminist stance and, often amusingly, counters what is said against women.

It is important to note here that despite making seemingly open misogynistic references on other parts of the album (particularly on “You Can’t Fade Me” and the aptly titled “Get Off My Dick and Tell Yo Bitch to Come Here”), Cube has clearly taken Yo-Yo’s points into consideration because if he was really sexist, he wouldn’t have had the self-awareness to invite her on a track, and also would have noted the irony or her inclusion against his other work.

El-P is an avid fan of weed and shrooms. In other words he gets “loose” (high) to the highest degree. Pro Status.

The beginning of this verse, and the beginning of Mike’s, resembles the flow El uses on his song Stay Down, released in 2012 as the 11th track on Cancer 4 Cure. 2012 was the year Mike and El really came, collaborating on Mike’s RAP Music as well. There are various references and samples from those album scattered around the album – can you catch ‘em all?
