“Say, say, my playmate” is the opening line to the children’s clapping game of the same name in which a kid invite another to play, but ultimately cannot, because the playmate is sick with the flu.

By following the line with “won’t you lay hands on me” the narrator is not only referencing the fact that, in the game, the hands should touch, but also inviting someone to join in the sickness, the “malady” or “tragedy” (lycanthropy, perhaps an allegory for STDs), which is contagious by physical contact.

“Slicing up eyeballs” is a reference to the opening of Un chien andalou in which a shot of a woman’s face match-cuts on action to another shot of a sheep’s eyeball being sliced by a razor to give the impression that the woman’s eye is being cut.
