Also, Huey and the Black Panther Party never stood for, promoted or accepted the ideology of a separate society. The platform of the Black Panther Party, was a 10 point program, with one of them being, “ An Immediate End to Police Brutality”. In addition, the Black Panther Party, was a grass roots organization, that created and ran programs like the “Free Breakfast Program”, “Free medical Clinic”, being the first even before the U.S. government, to test sickle cell disease, free of charge. Which embarrassed and later inspired the U.S. government to start free breakfast programs of their own. These panther members did not do it for the money, they did it to take the communities of black people in the U.S.A., that were subjected to systemic racism, hate, brutality and institutionalized oppression, and get them to a self- sufficient state where their lives mattered. Really research these people and movements who inspired song lyrics, other wise its just spewed ignorance and perpetuated fear of courages people and organizations like the black panther party.

This line “ I got love for my brother/But we can never go nowhere unless we share with each other”, refers to the divide in the African American community – as well as the country as a whole- due to the greedy mentality. Specifically the dynamic of oppressed people and the divide caused by what little scraps is given to them in a capitalist society. The “Two shots in the dark, now Hue’s dead”, line, refers to the many leaders of the civil rights and black power movement that were assassinated and neutralized, leaving the African American community with no guidance of how to move further, in a society and world that ended up being worse without those who spoke out and organized to better the community and ultimately the world.
