Johnny Blaze is the Marvel character Ghost Rider’s alter-ego. This line refers to Johnny’s personality before he ‘transformed’ into the superhero ghost-rider.

The backstory of the comic includes a very in-depth look at Johnny’s background in driving, including work as a stunt driver in a travelling circus.

O.C. likens himself to this character quite suitably, considering the fact that the motif of this track centers around crazy driving.

O.C. talks about some of his exploits on the road, namely ‘burning Pirellis.’

Pirellis are high preformace racing tires, which shows that he’s both willing to break the law, and willing to waste money to have a little fun.

In Memphis, on the day of the assassination of Martin Luther King, it is rumoured that Special Forces stationed an ‘Alpha 184’ Team on the scene, before any of the events had unfolded, to ensure the assassination of Kind in case James Earl Ray was unable to finish his assignment (that of assassinating Martin Luther).

With this concept, punch uses the wordplay between ‘oh lord’ and ‘blasphemy,’ cleverly adopting a religious motif into a politically charged line. He uses this wordplay to say that he doesn’t want anybody to ‘blast for me,’ (homophonous with ‘blasphemy.’ He uses this statement to say that he’d rather be a martyr than have people shoot back at the assassin, or to defend him. .

Nas begins to detail the problems he sees the girl as having. First he talks about the fact that she seems to want to go quickly in a relationship, saying that she’s ‘speeding’, and insinuating that there’s no reason for the haste.

He then brings up the fact that she acts like she’s required to give sexual favours in a relationship, something that usually happens to girls with inferiority and insecurity issues, and definitely goes with the idea that she’s moving ‘too fast’.

Nas is already planning his future with the girl who is the subject of the song.

First, he romanticises over her, talking about her soft skin, and the ‘touches’ that he seems to crave from her.

He then continues to say that he thinks they should get married, and go against everything she wants, first being broke, and then ‘blowing up’ and getting money after. It seems that he wants this so that he can prove she actually wants him, and not just his money.

Although the girl fantasises about being rich, with extravagance and opulence, Nas doesn’t think that that’s the right decision for her.

He thinks that she needs a good, down-to-earth guy, much like himself, instead of someone rich, famous, and conceited, who could provide this kind of ‘rich girl’ lifestyle.

Nas continues to chronicle what he sees to be the subject’s downfalls or faults.

This time, he accuses her of wanting to get knocked up by a player from the Denver Nuggets, a Basketball team. This is probably a symbolization of her desire to get impregnated by ANYONE rich or famous, for the aforementioned security and money.

Ike Turner was a prolific American singer/songwriter. In the ‘80s, he was alleged to have abused his wife, Tina Turner, and ended up being convicted for drug usage. His abuse of Tina was extremely publicised, and the use of the word 'Ike Turner’ as a verb became synonymous with ‘Wife-Beater’ for a long period of time in pop culture.

Nas uses this metaphor to say that he’d never abuse this girl, yet she turns around and abuses him emotionally, likely cheating or another form of manipulation common in relationships. .

Here, Nas addresses abolitionist and feminist Sojourner Truth. He alleges her to be someone that the subject of the song could learn from, and take inspiration from, because she had a strong sense of security and moral code, much the opposite of the ‘lost girl’.
