Mohenjo Daro is an ancient city that was uncovered in modern day Pakistan. It is believed to be one of the earliest civilizations in the history of mankind.

The joke of this line is that Ashurbanipal is mocking Hammurabi’s resemblance to one of the iconic statues found in Mohenjo Daro. Seeing as this river valley civilization is far-removed from his own, Hammurabi does not want to be called a Mohenjo Daroin.

Here is a picture of the iconic statue:

And here’s a statue of Hammurabi:

Sound words of advice.

Whitman is saying that everything that already is (meaning all the things that have been created {this could be either form a philosophical stand point meaning all ideas have been thought up or from a scientific stand point meaning quite literally that nothing can ever be created or destroyed; only changed}) are the things that always will be. New things will not be created. Everything that has existed, has always existed and will always exist.

The old phrase “history repeats itself” can be applied to what Whitman is saying. As time goes on, things are not going to become better or worse, people will not become wholly different people, and the good and bad things in the world will not become more or less plentiful. Things will change but not in their amount or in their true nature.

The moral to draw from this quatrain is that waiting for things to get better or waiting for better things to come along is a foolish way to live life. Waiting for things to come to fruition is foolish because all things already are. Whitman is saying that you should seek out the things you need, be proactive in your personal betterment rather than waiting for time to improve things.

This is a song about a love that can never be. Bowie can never be with his queen. However, Bowie is saying that for one day, they could defy all of the odds that are holding them apart, and they can show that love will overcome the obstacles. It would never last though, and that is why they can be heroes just for one day.

“Bullet with Butterfly Wings” won a GRAMMY in 1997 along with a slew of other awards. It remains one of Smashing Pumpkins highest charting and most recognizable songs, being used in countless movies and television shows.

The song acted as the lead single off the sprawling, mega-successful album, Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness. It was not the band’s first pick as lead single however as “Jellybelly” was actually supposed to take the slot.

During a making-of featurette for the video, Billy jokingly stated that the song was chosen as a single based on the results of a “survey of K-Mart shoppers between 30 and 40”.

“Bullet” has been sampled numerous times by a variety of artists. Notable artist Kid Cudi heavily sampled the track’s chorus in his 2018 hit, “The Rage” The song has also been parodied by both Bob Rivers in “Minimum Wage" and Weird Al Yankovic in “The Alternative Polka”.

The song evolved through numerous permutations during the recording process. One of the earliest demo recordings can be viewed here.

Throughout the song, Corgan has pronounced his frustration with the fact that he is destined to be damned in a sense. In the outro, he repeats what he has been telling us, but the 4th time he says it their is a hint of confidence and possibly even pride in his voice.
The progression of the song takes us from being very frustrated with our position in life and the “hand we’ve been dealt” so to speak, but by the end of the song there is a sense of acceptance with the life you have and that acceptance slowly turns into something to own and be proud of. A very valuable life lesson. Also he compares himself with Jesus (again we all want to be that special one) — Jesus couldn’t be saved, but he was there to “save us all” by dying.

This song directly samples “Gotta Get Up”, the first track on Nilsson Schmilsson by Harry Nilsson. This song follows the theme of Nilsson’s song making references to drinking too much and shirking responsibilities.

This is sampled from the song Gotta Get Up by Harry Nilsson which was the first song on his Nilsson Schmilsson album. In the original song, Harry is talking about how he spent all night out drinking and partying and he’s saying that he has to get home before morning so he can at least get a little bit of sleep because he has things to do in the morning. This is the general theme of Ashers song, too much partying and he needs to get back to his responsibilities.

There is a clever sense of double meaning running through this song. In the song, Theo talks about going to London to visit family (London also being his last name) and he apparently has crazy cousins over there. The whole song is a double entendre though because Theo is doing a remix of a song by the Crazy Cousinz who are a producer group based in London.
