You definitely need to check out Mick Jenkins & Saba (both from Chicago). Outside of them, I recommend Allan Kingdom, Amir Obe, Chaz French, Cousin Stizz, Denzel Curry, Jazz Cartier, Lil Uzi Vert, Towkio, & Your Old Droog

I’d assume so. I saw him when he toured with Chance the Rapper last fall and he dapped me up a few times, so I hope that counts

I would definitely recommend Chance the Rapper’s Mr. Happy, Childish Gambino’s Clapping for the Wrong Reasons, and YG’s Blame it on the Streets

“Woo-wap the bam” is a common Chicago expression that is used to skip over the details of a conversation by substituting it in for actual words. It can also be used to describe loud noises, particularly sirens and gun shots. For example, #ChicagoLingoChallenge:

While Saba used this phrase on the hook of Chano’s “Angels,” Kanye uses a similar incarnation of this Chicago slang on “Flashing Lights”:

And try to hit you with the ol-wu-wopte

Meek Mill is often criticized for yelling while he raps. Drake makes it clear that “Wanna Know” was enough of a failed diss record and Meek did not need to waste his time with the additional disses on his 4/4 EP.

With the initial release of the tracklist of The Life Of Pablo (then titled SWISH), one thing stuck out more than any of the song titles: “Kylie was here” scrawled near the bottom of the page in red pen (referring to Kanye’s sister-in-law Kylie Jenner). While most people probably wrote it off as a publicity stunt or a show of the Kardashian’s influence on pop culture, no one expected it to snowball into its current state.

Chance The Rapper and Kanye had not yet released a song together, but they certainly are not strangers. The two have been pictured together several times, Kanye has worked multiple times with Vic Mensa (who came up with Chance as a part of SAVEMONEY), Kanye performed at one of Chance’s Open Mike events, and Kanye almost narrated Surf.

Chance would later be featured on The Life Of Pablo’s first track, “Ultra Light Beams,” and have writing credits on “Waves”, “Father Stretch My Hands Pt. 1”, “Famous”, & “Feedback”.

Kanye would return the favor with a feature on Chance’s own first track “All We Got” from Coloring Book.

2 Chainz has been affiliated with Kanye West for several years, despite never signing to G.O.O.D. Music. This did not stop Tity 2 Necklace from appearing on magazine covers with the rest of the label and collaborating with Kanye on track such as “Mercy”, “Birthday Song”, & “The One”

He was pictured in the studio recording for WAVES among West, Kirk Franklin, A$AP Bari, & Mike Dean.
