Thus far (May 31st) this is easily my favorite album to have been released in 2015 and has definitely been slowing my intake of new music.
Chance The Rapper has been my favorite rapper of this new generation and it has been great to watch him develop as an artist amongst his collective, The Social Experiment. This album was full of positive vibes and surprising features (from Erykah Badu to Quavo)
I’m really hoping this is released on vinyl at some point, but there’s very little chance of that as Chance is so adamant about keeping his music free

In 2015 my New Year’s Resolution was to listen to 365 new albums over the course of the year.
My only two real qualifications were that these projects had to have at least 6 songs and had to all be new material to me with the exception of up to 4ish songs
Note: I am not actually listening to one album per day, some days I will listen to 7 new albums and sometimes I’ll go 3 or 4 days without anything new.

Since the 1920’s almost all largely successful American music has had its roots in black culture, whether it be Jazz, Blues, Rock & Roll, R&B, or Hip Hop
However, the most successful artists of each of these genres (or at least those making the most money), nearly always seem to be white, which is quite a disheartening disparity

The yellow brick road represents the path to success, and a highway would be an even more streamlined and fast paced version of the regular road.
The paparazzi want to capture photos of this success and will drive recklessly to do so, leading to a pile up of their cars on the high road

Sean created a homophone on Yay/Ye. While trash bags are placed outside on the street for collection, Sean’s stepbrother was selling bags of cocaine outside his house. “Yay” (slang for cocaine) and also a homophone on Kanye West’s nickname, “Ye,” who is bagged (locked down into a relationship) by Kim Kardashian.
Lil Wayne rapped a similar line on “Selsun Blue”:
I think he’s talking about Pusha-T guys, my step brother (Pusha) known for pushing Ye back in the days, “no Kim K but he bagged Ye”, he got signed under GOOD Music etc.
