This is in reference to the allegations that Mister Cee, the famous radio personality and record producer, solicited a male prostitute as part of a sting operation. Mister Cee has vehemently denied the charges, but Cole brings back up this rumor and also teases him with his nickname, and with the “watch for the Adam’s apple” line below.

The Finisher nickname comes from Mister Cee’s promotion of Tropical Fantasy soft drink which he nicknamed “Island Punch Finisher”. Cole plays into this by underlining his ability to finish his male counterparts just like the girl giving “brain to the minister”.

Cole has mentioned Mister Cee before, on 2007’s “Nothing Like it”:

I’ve been hot since ’97, I ain’t Mr Cee though
I am Mr NC boy, with the pen destroy any emcee boy

A very clever line here by Havoc. I’ll feed you to the dogs is a pretty common idiom that basically means you are about to throw somebody under the bus. Havoc uses the word bitch and boned to continue the dog theme. A bone is something fed to dogs, and Havoc is feeding his bone (his penis) to his bitch. So he will literally feed you to the dogs while he is feeding his “dog”. Lyricception.

Hell is supposed to be a place of eternal torture. It is reserved for those that have committed unforgivable sins throughout their lives. But Havoc asks a good question here.

What happens if you have lived in hell your entire life?

Your whole life is spelled out for you in Queensbridge. If you deny the sinful life that this culture perpetuates you can get killed yourself. As Havoc says “you Swayze(ghost).” How do you expect a young black male to comprehend the concept of hell when his whole existence is based around sinful vices (sex, drugs, violence)?

This is also referring to the gettin life line above. Life sentences don’t do enough to deter these men because they are stuck in a endless paradoxical existence that might end with you getting killed anyway. Another question that this brings about. Would you rather spend your life alive in prison or risk getting killed in the jungle that is Queensbridge?

Seattle is well known for the creation of the grunge rock sub-genre in the mid 1990’s. It became commercially successful because of the release of Nirvana’s Nevermind and Pearl Jam’s Ten. Smells Like Teen Spirit off of the Nevermind album is obviously the inspiration for the name of this song.

The Queen of Sheba was a well known Ethiopian queen. She is probably best know for her relationship with King Solomon, the king of Israel. It is no surprise that Nas would compare himself to King Solomon considering he was known as a very wise king.

There is dissenting opinion on the relationship between Sheba and Solomon however that may come into play in this context. Some accounts insinuate that Solomon and Sheba had a sexual relationship while others say that Sheba simply respected Solomon in a spiritual manner (in other words they were just good friends).

So Nas is conflicted with what he wants from this women. Does he want a purely sexual relationship, or does he want to find someone who will stick with him through thick and thin?

What Ka writes is the truth. If museums are attempting to collect everything that is historically relevant then this belongs there. Long after he is dead his words will live on and continue to tell the truths about the hood culture. His words have just as much bearing as any Egyptian hieroglyphs.
