In the Bible Eve was created from one of Adam’s rib. God told Adam and Eve not to eat fruit from the Garden of Eden, but Eve, tempted by the Devil, disobeyed God’s order and ate the fruit. God condemned man to live a life of hard labor and gave women the punishment of painful childbirth.

Samson a biblical figure who was destined to save the Israelites from oppression. He was ordered not to cut his hair because it was the source of his strength. He eventually falls in love with a woman named Delilah who chops his hair off. Samson was eventually blinded and imprisoned.

These two allusions assert Rock’s point that a man’s biggest weakness is the majority of the time a woman.

Jay is so angered at what his baby momma did to him that he contemplates hitting her. He quickly shrugs off this thought since he is both physically bigger than his baby momma and he has more morality than to hit a woman.

Rock sips on liquor while his girl gives him head (brain). There is a bit of irony in the first two lines. While he cites that marijuana doesn’t kill brain cells in the first line, while his girl is exercising her brain, he is damaging his brain cells with the alcohol (it has been proven that alcohol does indeed damage brain cells). It creates a bit of a vibrant image when you consider that weed is illegal and alcohol is legal in today’s American society.

It is said that marijuana kills brain cells mostly to keep kids from using the drug. Jay Rock discredits this (it is a fallacy that marijuana kills brain cells by the way) by pointing out that he thinks more clearly when he smokes than when he is sober thereby elevating his brain cells.

Peter Parker is the actual name of Stan Lee’s “Spiderman”

Spiderman is, of course, known for his ability to climb buildings. Like Spiderman, Jay Rock is climbing up the charts with his superhuman ability to spit rhymes.

The same formula that he alludes to for selling drugs is also how he views his music. He first cooks up his rhymes and then distributes them to the public.

From an early age he was infatuated with “material things”. So much so that he wanted a 10 karat ring at 10 years old. To put it in perspective a 10 karat ring is 41.7% gold and costs a pretty penny for someone living in such a poor environment.

In the hood it is natural to see devilish vices (ie. drugs, violence, prostitution). There are a lot of people in this environment that are spreading the devil’s message of evil through their actions.
