Médine fait ici référence à l'imam de Vénissieux Abdelkader Bouziane, expulsé de France suite à des propos tenus dans un magazine.
Le 27 juillet 2003, Bertrand Cantat frappe sa compagne, l'actrice Marie Trintignant qui va décéder de ses blessures le 1er août 2003.
Tariq Ramadan est un intellectuel suisse d'origine égyptienne. Il a écrit plusieurs livres traitant de théologie, philosophie et politique en lien avec l'Islam. Il est controversé: ses défenseurs, le considèrent comme voulant montrer un islam authentique et ouvert, pour ses détracteurs c'est un intégriste usant d'un double discours.
Ici Médine ironise pour montrer que les Musulmans ne martyrisent pas plus leur femme que les autres. Il rend Tariq Ramadan responsable de la mort de Marie Trintignant pour montrer le ridicule des personnes qui font de lui le responsable de tous les maux de la société (ici la violence conjugale).
C'est en partie un référence aux textes sacrés de l'islam : Sourate 4, Verset 34 : “[…]. Et quant aux [épouses] dont vous craignez la désobéissance, exhortez-les, éloignez-vous d'elles dans leurs lits et frappez-les. Si elles arrivent à vous obéir, alors ne cherchez plus de voie contre elles, car Allah est certes, Haut et Grand !”
