Rich kids are notorious for throwing huge parties whenever their parents are out of town. Sometimes they get out of hand – things get broken, stuff goes missing, neighbors get curious – and in the end their parents still manage to somehow find out. In Batman Begins, Ra’s al Ghul planned on destroying Gotham, seeing it as corrupt and beyond saving like Constantinople and Rome. But Bruce believed that Gotham still could be saved, and that is what led to the split between the two.
While escaping from the Temple, Bruce killed every member of the League besides Ras', who died later in the movie. That leaves Bane as the only remaining member of the League, since he was rotting in the prison pit when this happened.
Interesting side note Bane is often shown crossing his arms on his chest throughout the movie, in a very similar manner that Ras' used to do. It is one of the many subtle connections from Bane to Ras' throughout this movie (Ras' is also seen wearing a mask very similar to Bane’s in Batman Begins.)

The girl whose name Spenser’s trying to sketch in the sand dismisses his actions as foolish, not believing anything will ever live forever. She says that she’ll soon one day be erased from the world (die) just like the sand when the tide washes up.
“Vain man” is a double entendre. She’s saying that he’s making his bid for immortality out of vanity and self-satisfaction, but also that this his efforts are in vain as he will never be able to make something immortal.
