“This Woman’s Work” is about being forced to confront an unexpected and frightening crisis during the normal event of childbirth. Used in the movie She’s Having a Baby, director John Hughes used the song during the film’s dramatic climax, when Jake (Kevin Bacon) learns that the lives of his wife (Elizabeth McGovern) and their unborn child are in danger.

As the song plays, we see a montage sequence of flashbacks showing the couple in happier times, intercut with shots of him waiting for news of Elizabeth and their baby’s condition. Bush wrote the song specifically for the sequence, writing from a man’s (Jake’s) viewpoint and matching the words to the visuals which had already been filmed.

The version of the song that was featured on The Sensual World was re-edited from the original version featured on the film soundtrack. The version released as a single was a third, slightly different mix.

Bobby and his people are going to be at the top. This is an interesting line as he is admitting they are not currently at the top, something most rappers wouldn’t do.

But it is true, as of this explanation (06/April/13) he does not even have his own Wikipedia article.

Plus Stay On It is the name of Bobby’s most recent mixtape.

Reference to the song Video Killed the Radio Star which is true, now-a-days a song almost cannot be a hit without having a video and people rather go onto YouTube to look for songs they like rather than being forced to listen to songs that the radio chooses.

In fact many MCs drop out of school altogether to focus on their music career (a big gamble).

When people gain a hype or large following for their music, this often opens up doors as others offer to pay for thing for the artist and their team. With the intention of bringing the artists fans to the payee’s business.

In fact with most celebrities this happens, the richer they get the less stuff they actually need to buy because they are sent so much free shit to promote it.

A song that has received much hate on the world of YouTube for on the surface not making much sense. Upon closer inspection a fair few of the lines make sense or at least have some sort of meaning behind them.
