On every emerging artists' rise to the top, there are always going to be detractors who will try to knock them down; now Frisco’s at the top, they’re not making the noise they used to – they’re more comparable to Rowan Atkinson’s mostly silent character Mr. Bean.

Complimentary bars from the two Boy Better Know members, illustrating what we already know; they can shut it down whether on stage or with the ladies.

While Fris' half is a nod to Drake’s opening on Skeppy’s “Shutdown”, Skepta’s use of “touchdown” is reminiscent of Frisco’s 2011 track of the same name.

At the time of writing (2015), Lionel Messi was widely regarded to be the best footballer in the world.
Stormzy draws a comparison between himself and the footballer. He uses the metaphor of his “sport” being music. While the pair don’t play the same game, they are both at the top of their games respectively.

Back in 2014 it was pointed out to Stormzy that he looked like Belgian football star Romelu Lukaku, though here he illustrates how the comparisons go deeper than looks and stature – putting him “up top” shows how Big Mike is on top of the grime scene, while Lukaku is deployed “up top” on the pitch, spearheading the attack for Everton at the time of writing.

For those of you into that kind of thing, you can check out a list of footballer/rapper lookalikes here!

Big man Dier is rewarded with a new five year deal on account of being a) the most versatile player this side of City Milner and b) a don. Well deserved in every sense of the word, let’s give him a new deal every year because he’s my hero.

Kano is a big fan of the sportswear brand Adidas and is often seen sporting their clothes due to a sponsorship deal where he’s paid to bring exposure to the brand.

An interesting coincidence comes when taking the previous line and combining it with this one. In 2013, Daniel Levy presided over the most expensive football transfer in history when Gareth Bale was sold by Tottenham Hotspur FC to Real Madrid CF for £85,300,000 (€100,000,000). This could be the kind of “Adi money” Kano refers to considering Real Madrid are sponsored by…

Alternatively, this could be a reference to Emmanuel Adebayor – or Ade for short – the former Spurs striker who was signed on a contract which smashed the wage structure instilled in the club; although initially subsidised by Manchester City FC, it was still far exceeding what most felt he should be bringing on the pitch; ultimately he was released from his contract by mutual consent in the final year.

“Thorn in Your Eye” was composed for WWE (then WWF) during the Attitude Era, epitomising the gritty sound of that period with a heavy metal track to open the show. The group Slam Jam was composed of the following members –

  • Vocals: Jon Oliva (Savatage/Trans-Siberian Orchestra) (on “We’re All Together Now”)
  • Vocals: Michel Begeame and Olli Schneider (Such A Surge) (on “Thorn in Your Eye”)
  • Guitar: Scott Ian (Anthrax)
  • Guitar: Kenny Hickey (Type O Negative)
  • Bass: Gary Meskil (Crumbsuckers/Pro-Pain)
  • Drums: Tim Mallare (Overkill)

With regards to the song itself – while it may have got the audience pumped up, very few actually knew what was going on, superstars included!

A nod to the Starboy Nathan and the track “Master”, which featured both Skepta and Fekky. After the track surfaced, Skepta took to twitter to express his disapproval for both the song and Nathan himself, and although it was supposedly resolved shortly after, Skeppy touched on it again here. You can read more on that here.

Jme has been on a nostalgia hype through 2015, particularly since the release of his third studio album Integrity>. Bringing back the old days when a shiny Charizard Pokémon card was the best thing going, he has been exchanging vinyls of his latest release with those who’ve got a mint condition card.

Now he’s got a full squad (and then some) of the fire dragon Pokémon, he truly has become – wait for it – the very best, and he proves it by spraying some bars over the original Pokémon Theme Song.
