Vor über 4 Jahren war er neben Kanye, Jay-Z, RZA, Swizz Beatz und Pusha-T auf “So Appalled”der einzige Künstler dessen Namen ich noch nie gehört hatte. Witzigerweise hat CiHy sich teils auf den Track geschmuggelt. Als Kanye nicht im Studio war, hat er statt nur der Hook einen kompletten Part eingerappt. Am nächsten Tag hat Kanye den Track wichtigen Leuten präsentiert, die den Part gefeiert haben, also hat Kanye ihn drauf gelassen.
Sein “Black Hytori Project” ist teils ein Konzeptalbum, das die afro-amerikanische Geschichte näher beleuchtet. Die Instrumentals sind krass, CiHy hat ne großartig rauchige Stimme. Das reicht mir schon. Das Mixtape hat es außerdem auf Platz 19 der besten Alben 2014 geschafft.
vor ein paar Tagen kam übrigens das “BHP 2” raus, das hab ich aber noch nicht ganz gehört.
Hab ich vor knapp einem Jahr durch Zufall entdeckt und mir danach alles von Kevin Gates runtergeladen (sogar die inoffiziellen Mixtapes, die meist ziemlich mies sind.)
“By Any Means” ist tatsächlich ein Album/Mixtapes, das man bei iTunes kaufen oder bei Datpiff (mit Shoutouts) gratis hören kann. Wahrscheinlich das von mir meistgehörte Werk. Gates hat eine krass melodische Stimme und ziemlich geile Beats. Kevin Gates ist übrigens verified.
