Animal Collective is an electronic indie band. He uses their song My Girls in his mixtape I AM JUST A RAPPER, on his song by the same name.

He says that his clique is an animal collective because they’re all beasts on the track.

Other name for a rooster would be “cock”, but since CG always talks about how he got bullied as a child, I’d assume he meant “chicken”.

Also could be another reference to Marty McFly who was continually called a chicken.

Mr. Rager is another part of Kid CuDi, like the crazy party type that gets drunk and wild and all that. Every time he’s saying “I’m on my way to heaven” it could mean one of two things. Either, he’s fighting his addiction and winning so Mr. Rager is going to heaven (so Cudi can find release). Or, it could mean that he’s going to heaven because Mr. Rager is taking over and he doesn’t know how much longer he will last.

The President is rocking =X, which is DyMe’s emoticon he established previously in the verse. The music video shows a picutre of Obama with an =X emoticon over his mouth

The =X emoticon has two meanings

• A big kiss, which would mean the President supports what DyMe is doing
• Sealed lips, which would be more of a political statement claiming Obama is essentially a puppet and has no voice of his own

The video for Iron Mic: Eli Porter vs. Envy got well over 2 million views, but DyMe was clearly referencing Porter’s infamous phrase

Moleskine is a brand of notebooks, diaries etc. Jay eventually took what he was writing in the diary and turned it into a song. Canarsie is a residential neighborhood in Brooklyn, New York

“By way of Canarsie” was a mid-twentieth century figure of speech meaning “to get there by a roundabout way or from a distant point.” Jay could be talking about the long road from the 3rd Ward to hip-hop stardom

“Stand clear of the closing doors please” is something that the PA says every time the doors on the subway close

The King and I is a 1951 musical by Rodgers and Hammerstein about a British woman who is in love with the king of Siam–a love that neither of them can express due to cultural divides. This reference anticipates the next line about “live a lie.”

Raybans are a brand of eyewear, which are always placed on your face. So these weak niggas are always in your face like sunglasses always on your face.

Also could mean that raybans have recently become so popular that everybody has a pair
